I thought with the holiday coming we could post some of our favorite christmas CD's. I always break out my Trans-Siberian Orchestra CD's this time of year. I actually have been listening to them for a month or so now.
I love the groups talents and how they canmake any christmas song hard rock. I love these lyrics from their new christmas album. They also do a lot of original music:
Through this night The dream still wanders As it was meant to be
And every year this night grows fonder
Of children and circumstance Caught in this childhood dance As the world turns around Keeping dreams off the ground
Windows of frosted ice Prisming candlelight And somehow we Start to believe
In the night and the dream As it cuts through the noise With the whisper of snow As it starts to deploy
In the depths of a night That's about to begin With the feeling of snow As it melts on your skin
And it covers the land With a dream so intense That it returns us all To a child's innocence
And then what you'd thought lost And could never retrieve Is suddenly there to be found On Christmas Eve
This is only part of the song, but I just love that part. It sounds so much better when you hear it. I love their arrangements of old music, but I also adore their original works. I'm going to their christmas concert Saturday night. I can't wait!!!
So anyway, what are some of your favorite christmas songs?
800 posts in two months.........I need to go outside!! ;D

*takes out glaive and slices a random radio in two* Every freaken day I've had to listen to Christmas music at work. This place here is insane I tell you! They have been playing Christmas music on the radio 24/7 since November!! And every day when I'm sorting Hallmark in the warehouse I have to listen to the same songs over and over again. I've become very anti-Christmas music this year because of it.
However...there is still one song I enjoy that isn't played on the radio (while I'm working anyways). I really like Carol of the Bells.

I love Christmas music, especially the instrumentals. what I don't love is hearing it every blinking moment of December. >_<

trans-siberian orchestra! i remeber my partner wanted to see them. It is a treat!! I went last year at this time (they are always in Cleveland this time of year lucky me) and they rocked!! They are so energetic and are all over the stage. And somehow they still pull off those amazing guitar riffs! I heard they are doing music from a new album that hasn't been released called "Midnight Castle". Don't quote me on the title I could be wrong! Oh, and great song by the way bro! I'll be humming that one for a while!! ;D

My favorite Christmas songs are by song 'type.' For traditional songs, my favorite is "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", hands down. My favorite rendition of this is Randy Travis' version, which has a beautiful flute descant (yes, I know and can play said descant, and, for the song itself, I know six verses). For 'contemporary' songs, I split this into 'humerous' (sp?) and 'inspirational'. For 'inspirational', I really love the songs "The Christmas Shoes" (preferably the Three of Hearts version), and "Christmas Carol" (by Skip Ewing). For 'humerous', I LOVE Clint Black's Milk and Cookies ('Til Santa's Gone), and Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer. And you can't discount Jeff Foxworthy's "Twelve Redneck Days of Christmas" and Bill Engvall's "Here's Your Christmas Sign." And then you have Twisted Christmas... My favorite has to be "Pokemon". Go to www.twistedtunes.com and you can hear it.

Another favorite of mine is "Mannheim Steamroller" Don't think I spelled it right. They do more keyboards and synth stuff. Their version of carol of the bells is almost but not as good as Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
And bro, TSO does more heavy metal type stuff. Not too much techno. One friend of mine referred to their version of the nutcracker as the "Mettallicracker" using Mettallica. I had to agree.
