I just read on Arlong Park that four One Piece chapters were published in the latest Shonen Jump. I thought only two chapters were published in each issue. Does this mean they'll be publishing more, and hopefully releasing the graphic novels more quickly?
(It's hard to get Shonen Jump in the UK. You have to go to specialist stores to find them but they aren't very common. It's much easier to buy the graphic novels).

They could be trying to make up for the pages lost when they ended DBZ, or maybe they're trying to get to the meat of the story quicker. Them doing it to release the GNs quicker would be nice, but the fact that manga not in the monthly SJ get released a LOT quicker shows that they should be able to release all their manga that quickly anyway :/

Perhaps, but then again it could lower the number of sales of Shonen Jump. However I would like it if they increased the book release rate to at least four books a year.

According to Kevin Rodriguez, the "comic book guy", Viz wants to turn SJ into a Weekly magazine.

While it doesn't effect me, hopefully that'll mean more graphic novels are released and allow them to catch up with the Japanese version at a quicker rate than they are now. I personaly don't really want to wait around ten years for book #36.

I'm assuming that they [Viz] would put a little less manga in the issues if they went weekly, therefore would it not lower the newsstand price? And I figured subscribers (like me) would just pay the usual amount charged for a year or whatever, but hey, weekly issues man! ;D

The Japanese Jump also uses low-quality paper.

I've been wanting to read Shonen Jump since it was first released, even though back then I didn't know what any of the series were bar DBZ. Oh well.
