Just reposting what I mentioned in the other thread...
Technically, isn't Envy genderless? We call him "he" because he tends to have masculine body language (erm... for the most part.)
Envy admits himself that he doesn't remember his "true form", and that he just likes to be in his "cute form."
In the Japanese version he has a female VA, using a "masculine" voice (not uncommon really.)
I've heard stories where people watching the JAPANESE version weren't sure what gender Envy was for a while *laughs*
Of course, don't put TOO much stock into what I'm saying. To be honest, I haven't heard Envy's english VA yet ^^; .

And YES, I know that Envy really WAS a guy back in the day (well, that is, if Envy was telling the absolute truth...). But Envy makes the CLAIM that he doesn't know what he is rather early on in the series.
Basically, I think Envy was intended to be rather ambigous.

I followed the whole Japanese series, and Envy is most definitally a male. It's hinted throughout the whole series, but not revealed until the last few episodes.

Envy is my favorite character in FMA. I dont think "it" has a gender since "it" can change into either a man or a woman. I think "its" "cute form" is a guy. I'm not sure but that's what it looks like.

You have to forgive my way of thinking Ashil. My anime-fan history involves being a big CLAMP fan. CLAMP, the group who LOVES genderless characters *laughs*.
Anyhoo, after hearing the english VA, and then comparing it to the Japanese VA. And judging ONLY by the sound. Well... in both cases it kind of sounds like a woman trying desperately to sound like a man ^^;. Envy's english Va's acting sounds a bit.... off though. I can't quite put my finger on it....

I... am going to have to comment on this later.
I remember not liking the voice, but I remember it not being as bad as some others.
Unfortunately, the only thing FMA I'm thinking of right now is the nice signed poster from Travis Willingham (Roy's English VA) and the photo of me and Jing as Hawkeyes hugging him.

Meh....I just saw last weeks FMA tonight...I DESPISE ENVY'S DUB VOICE WITH A PASSION!!!!!!!!  ((XD i love teh new smiley) Its...its...its...HORRIBLE! >__<;; I can't describe it any other way. ......I now officially lurffle Envy >D But really...come on Funimation, you couldve done better than that, i know it!! Meh...>__< Anyway....*clings to Envy plushie* ^_^ Envy-sama!! Despite the fact he was beating on Ed i love him. o.o I'm really starting to get into this series..its getting better and better..is therealready a thread about it?
