Remember to set your VCRs everyone because Diabolmon Strikes Back, the fourth Japanese Digimon movie, has finally been dubbed into English and will be premiering on Toon Disney tonight at 7:00 p.m.! And if you miss it tonight, it will be repeated again tommorow morning at 9:00 a.m. on ABC Family! Digimon movies five through seven are also planning on being dubbed and I can't wait for it!

Curse Canada's TV powers........ I really want to see this. I pray for a DVD release.....
I am positive, like all (most) of the Digimon dub, the voice acting will be high quality and have really dumb yet lovable jokes. ;D

Which season does the movie cover? Not that it matters... I probably won't be able to catch it regardless of the time it airs ...

Yeah, it's a 02 movie. I saw the dub and I must say that I was very impressed by it. They changed a few VAs but that was to be expected. I think the only ones they changed were Tai's, Matt's, Ken's and I think Yolei's. I think they changed Mimi's but I couldn't tell because for most of the movie she sounded like a different VA and then near the end she started to sound like the old VA, so I couldn't tell if it was a new VA trying to sound like the old Mimi or the old VA trying to get back into her character. Although I would have prefered it if they had just kept the Japanese musical score, that probably would have been too much to ask for, but they could have at least used the music from the first three seasons. I liked that part of the dub music but they ended up using mostly recycled music cues from Frontier (and I didn't like the music they used during the dub of that season) and this generic cartoony music that all sounded alike to me. They continued to use all of the dub names, too.
Translation-wise, it was incredibly accurate to the original. There were very few changes in the script and the changes they did make were so minor that they're not even worth mentioning, so sadly, we didn't get any of the corny jokes from the TV series back. Visually-speaking, the dub was surprisingly nearly uncut. The only major visual cuts they made were removing some Japanese text and cutting out some minor violence near the end of it, but it was so small of a cut that I didn't even notice they had made it at first. In the end, it was a very-well done dub that really impressed me and they were airing it in widescreen, too! I think they even pronounced Sora's name as "Sola" at one point. Either that or I was just imagining things. I'll have to re-watch it again to check just to make sure since I taped the movie. I can't wait for the dubs of the other movies and hopefully they'll all get released on DVD in the U.S. I have much higher hopes for a good dub of Digimon Xevolution now.

I noticed Tai had a different VA right off. It's so sad... I liked the original VA. Gabumon (Matt's Digimon) was the only other one that made me question whether it was the original VA or not. I also noticed the Frontier music placed around... which I found lazy and semi-ironic that they choose to use that. I'd forgotten all about it airing Saturday morning... I had almost stayed late at work and would have missed it. Ooo, I'm glad I came home nearly on time! Plus I didn't remember until about 20 minutes beforehand and I had to find my old messed up Digimon 2 tape to put it at the end of... since it was only a 30 minute 'movie', I didn't want to use a new tape. ^-^;; Ah, it was nice to see something new for Digimon. I would love it if someone would slap the seasons on DVD and release them, but well, that's just wishful thinking.

So, this was only a half an hour long movie? It wasn't like when like, three or four different movies were stuck into one? (Digimon: The Movie) They are airing them individually now? I know that this is a rather old thread, but have any of the other movies been done like this since then?
(Oh, and Shorty22, you can buy full seasons on DVD... on ebay. Some people have put entire seasons on to sets of DVDs. Some even have the Japanese movies. In their original Japanese, they say. If only the actual company would do this...)

The new ones yes, but the first three, Digimon Adventure, Childrens War Game (which this one is a sequel of), and the third movie (who's title is too long to repeat here) will probably never air seperate. One thing about this one is that I don't think it was too badly edited, mainly just a few scenes cut for time and violence, but that's it. (btw, was it in it's native widescreen when aired?) I haven't seen the dubbed version yet, all I've seen is s super low low quality sub-job, but hey, I get all of my Paku Romi goodness! Aww, no Joshua Seth? That was one of the great things about the dub! Now I am interested in seeing the dub even more because I want to hear the new VA! Too bad I don't have cable or satellite, lousy parents...

Yes, the dub for this movie was surprisingly in widescreen.

S-so. Sorry for reviving this thread if that is unwanted, but I thought people might get mad if I unleashed annother Digimon movie thread on the message bords. I wanted to know how many digimon movies there are? The original Japanese, and dubbed over ones. I thought that 'Digimon: The Movie' was the only Digimovie-dubwork, but I've found casting and such online for later movies, such as a Tamers one, as well. Anybody know about this?

Were these released, or even featured on VHS or DVD. You talked about a digimon movie with Ken in it, but I've never seen that released other than that one special (which I missed on account of not having cable). I don't think I've seen any around except for 'The Movie.' Anybody know about this?
(sorry I have almost the same thing here twice. In a botched attempt at modification, I did this. Gome.)

the dubed digimon movie we got a few years back was accually 2 of the japanese movies pressed into one. the one where tai and kari were little was a very short movie, so they combined it with the 2nd japanese movie, which is longer and had to cut some stuff out. they also have 2 tamers movies and a frontier one. they were all dubbed and released on tv a few months back.

Actually, the one we got a few years back was a combination of 3 movies, not 2. And to add on to all of the splicing, there were scenes cut from It contained the Digimon Adventure movie, a Zero Two movie, and a Tamers movie.all 3 for time and violence.
EDIT: The movie that this thread is about is a sequel to one of the ones featured in "The Movie", origionally entitled "Our War Game".
