I've had this thought cross my mind a few times. Along with all the other fuzzy, happy, caffine-driven phantasms that constantly haunt me. Away, away! So, I'm posting this here because...it's kind of a fan thing? Not a complete one, but... Tell me if I should slap it elsewhere.
Anyway. For those of you who have played tabletop games, what would you think of a Shaman King themed game? Certainly it would be hard to do. After all, this isn't generic fantasy that can easily be adapted to a system, ala Lord of the Rings, The Black Company, whatever. Still, do you thing it could be done? Using what system, and how? DnD, GURPs, or even from scratch for use in tabletop or MU*.
Myself, I've always thought (betraying once again that I think about things like this...) that Shaman King would fit best with the storyteller system. A modified Exalted if where I'd see it fall into.
Of course, there would be need to change quite a few things. 'Charms' would likely have to be changed quite a bit, possibly making trees for spirits as simple as 'Speed', 'Offense', 'Defense', and branching out to allow characters to customize and select their own path. For example, taking the Speed branch and learning a skill that boils down to a multi-attack strike, ala Ren's 'Slash Dance'.
Obviously, the concepts of Integration and Oversoul are a problem. Mostly because you'd need stats for spirit and the shaman both. I'd say you'd be able to spend XP in A) Your spirits stats B) Your stats or C) Special Attacks/Combos
And...that was about as far as I've thought this out.
