Those things are very good for laughs. I have many friends whose parents are VERY strict on Christianity, hell, there are even people who won't let others who aren't Christian even talk to them. =.= Yes, about 3/4 (especially around where I live) are like that. However, there are many out there who aren't! Shows are just shows, anime is just anime. They are there for our comical relief or something to just look at. Of all the rants I've found, Pokemon is just too funny. Some rant on how Pikachu is a reincarnation of Satan!
Seriously...However, as I've read these posts, it seems many out there are understanding outside my trivial town.
But it effects me even more considering I'm not Christian and some actually go on to say that Eastern/Oriental Religions are crap or they are occults and etcetera. It's sometimes sad that people put religion as a border, building a wall around themselves, and not enjoying the world for what it is. When actually religions are more of guidelines and something we believe in, to reassure some that there is something out there for us to hold onto, even the darkest of times. And some actually take that hold a little far..... Some may not know it, but it hurts to have something you believe in an occult or that if you believe in it, you are goths and such. >.>
^^ I am glad to see people on this board are understanding and not stern on everything. *sighs in relief* This was just a little point of view from someone not Christian. *braces for anyone berating her for not being so*
Oh, and if I remember, in Japan, Pokemon is a family show and Yu-Gi-Oh actually rated the same as Shaman King. In other words PG-13 or so. ^^;;

I don't mind you not being a Christian, everyone has their own beliefs and choices.

Your town seems a lot like the one I live in. {random note}{People here say they are perfect Christians but they won't even put up an animal shelter, instead they put bright lights that just abut blind people in the middle of town.} I do not mind other people's beliefs as long as they are nice civil people religious beliefs do not matter that much to me.

here's a little history lesson: the Puritans (a sect of Christianity) came to the New World seeking freedom from persecution. thus, America eventually came to be. I'm not a Christian, but a lot of my friends are, so I don't mean to offend anybody. all I'm saying is (not to sound cliche) that it's a free country, and we have the right to enjoy our anime!

This is just as ridiculous as the ban on halloween. I don't know who has heard of this but i heard it on the news the other day here in ohio.
They don't want kids to worship the devil or dress up as him. I guess kids are so impressionable that they will instantly go on a genocide if they look like a devil.
People need to grow up and just let people have fun. Halloween is not a holiday celebrating the devil.
I could go on a rant about that but I am already getting off topic.
Yugioh, Shaman King, Harry Potter are FICTION.
Did we all hear that class? FICTION!!! FANTASY!!! MAKE-BELIEVE!!
Come on, get an imagination for crying out loud!!
Also, I may add that while yes I am sure pokemon had something to do with that boys death, I'm sure he had many other very serious problems at home that need looking into if he was that desperate. They blame the show, but I blame his upbringing. Parents need to illustrate the difference between fantasy and reality. Kids don't always see that, so they need their parents to teach them that. The poor boy was probably raised by television. It's not a babysitter, it's an entertainer.
Man, I could rant on this all day, but I think I've said enough to make my point. Good Day.
I said good day!

Lol, Fez! That little kid that jumped off of the balcony, does it give any sources on that? Age? Location? Do we know that it's even true? That guy could be making up stories to "prove" his "Pokemon are evil" tirade.

Ah, pinkechidna you noticed my quote. ;D
I for one, do not have the info I was merely going by an older post. But at any rate, you could use any story that blames a game or tv for deaths and violence.
There is something else troubling those kids that they would act out in this way. I don't believe a game or show can MAKE you do something that you know is wrong.

Yeah, it reminds me of the story that the kid whose parents wouldn't buy him gum summoned Pokemon who, in turn, climbed down the parent's throats, lodged themselves in their trachea and suffocated them. Wow, guys. I definitely believe that story!
