I was talking to an older friend who said the best way to get dubbing companies to release uncut anime is not by whining or making petitions, but by telling them how much you would be willing to pay for uncut videos/DVDs. I would be willing to pay up to $19.95 for an uncut DVD with for or five uncut/subbed episodes of (insert any anime here). What do you all think a fair price would be?

$20 for four, $25 for more, and don't release anything three or less (unless theres really awesome extras, like that bonus episode of Spiral in Fullmetal Alchemist vol. 4).

I am not an otaku.
And I don't care. My mom pays for it, not me. *SHOT*
Psh. D: I always knew whining and petitions wouldn't change anything, it's like a child whining to a mother about something-- or a class room to a teacher. The more they whine, the more the mother/teacher will ignore their request.
And everything is about money, these days. I would have thought it to be fairly obvious...

Can't really say that I'm an OLDER otaku, but I pay for my DVDs unless it's my birthday or Christmas, so I guess I'll comment. ^^; First of all, I won't buy a DVD without English and Japanese versions, reguardless of price. (I like comparing). I'm used to getting 3 episodes for $20 (InuYasha DVDs from Borders) so when I see 4 episodes selling for $20 (FMA at Best Buy) a huge part of me is just squeeing with joy. I will rarely buy a DVD $30 or higher reguardless of the number of episodes. At this point, I'll settle for 4 episodes with good special features (textless OP/EDs, outtakes, trailers...) for $20-25.
