So this year I made the painful commute to Anime Boston. Even though I've been an anime fan for a while, this was my first convention. And I cosplayed! (guess as whom). It was amazing. All the costumes, merchandize...
I found a few Digimon cosplayers, a few Pokemon (1 of whom, dressed as Misty (can't recall her Japanese name) complete with a Togepi plushie, sang Misty's Song, from the Pokemon 2BAMASTER soundtrack, apparently on a dare. That was cool. Yes, I sang along... -///-) a ton of Fullmetal Alchemists, One Piecers, Final Fantasy Characters, but only one Shaman. A girl at a booth in the Artist's Ally was dressed as Yoh, complete with orange headphones and spirit ball. I got a picture.
The merchandise was plentiful, but I only saw three pieces of SK, and amopung them was no Faust. My friend had promised me I'd find some Faust (><). The closest thing I found to Faustliness was a drawing of him done by the Yoh cosplayer.
What I did find, however, was three plushies; Yoh, Manta and Ren. One of my friends got the Ren, and when I went to that booth later I bought the Manta. Someone else had bought the Yoh. When I discovered the three plushies I actually screemed. The Manta was the cheepest, but comparing them, he is taller than the Ren . I got a kick out of that though.
Um... what else...
The Anime Dating Game was fun, as was the band that opened it. It was the first concert I've ever been to!!! (am I sheltered? ) The band was Bad Luck (as seen in the anime Gravitation, which my friend is obsessed with, so she went nuts.) They were American, I believe, but all the songs were sung in Japanese. It was also like a little play.
Lessee... Oh, so about the title of this thread.
I went to Anime Boston cosplaying as Faust VIII (whoever guessed right, you get a prize! Have a cup of tasty fruit salad!) complete with a little skeleton. The Manta plushie I bought later only added to it. ^^ I spent the whole time hoping and hoping that someone would recognize me, but to no avail. We had left the Con (for our ride had arrived) and I spotted a boy holding Mankin volume 6, I believe. I girl on the sidewalk went on to him about how excelent it was, how she loved Shaman King... This is my chance, thought I. So I slidedeld over. I got close to her, and wiggled my arm slightly, clattering my little wooden 'Eliza.'
"Ah! Faust!"
I got a hug.
"I love you! I'm married to you!"
She had also apparently unofficially changed her name to Eliza.
Half expecting her to be Wannabeeliza or someone, I asked if she had ever been to Shaman King Uncensored. As my friends pulled me away, (our ride was waiting), she called to me "Is it a porn site?" ('uncensored.' ug.)
One friend, who also goes to this message board, explained that it was not, that uncensored just meant 'not the crappy dub.'
So she has been recomended here, and I hope she joins. I kinda wish I got a picture. The one person out of hundreds who knew who I was supposed to be.
That was my favorite Anime Boston memory.
So, anybody else make it there? Maybe I saw you. Maybe I have a picture.
