But are the dubtitles at least more accurate than the English edited version? Because either way I watch Shaman King or Yugioh, it'll be a little inaccurate, so I might as well watch the one with the translation most accurate....

Greatly accurate. If you've seen Yu Yu Hakusho, think around those levels... just better, because it doesn't try to neutralize culture or add pop culture references.

Sorry. My ignorance is beginning to show. Still a $20 DVD with only 3 eps doesn't seem like that good of a deal. I'll wait to hear more thoughts from you guys once you get to see them before I commit to buying them. I love SK, but I have bills to pay. I own a few pokemon VHS tapes that have 3 eps on them and I regret buying them. I just don't want to do that again with Shaman King.

Hey, people with the DVDs, do the characters still have terrible accents?
Necromancer's Thoughts on 4kids: I think that 4kids doesn't read ahead into the series they get.I think they just get this big picture of the whole cast of the show and just randomly point at characters and say "accent"........"accent"......."accent"........"excruciatingly bad voice"......... and so on.So the chinese characters end up with british accents and the English ones don't...........
sorry, that was off topic.........^^U Just had to rant about that, though.Whoo, I feel better now.

I read that Funimation kept the theme songs on the uncut Yugioh DVDs in Japanese rather than dubbing them into English. Did they do the same with Shaman King? And if so, were they subtitled on the Japanese version since they weren't dubbed into English on the uncut English dub and these are dubtitles and not subtitles? Sorry if this is a confusing question. ^^;;

Yeah, the dub is changed to be more accurate to the original version. The new dub does some name changes as well. Name Spoilers ahead! * * * In the new dub they use Manta as Morty's last name. o_0 It's definitely strange to hear Morty Manta. But I can live with it.
As for Rio's gang, Muscle Punch and Ball Boy get to keep their original names.
Len Tao was changed back to Tao Len. * * * The op/ed is in Japanese, and the Japanese music in the episodes in intact. Oh, I simply LOVE Manta's Japanese voice. *squeals like litte girl* The other's are great, Yoh's does sound a bit feminine, but he's young. I paid $20 for the three episodes, but I work 2 jobs just so I can buy stuff for myself. Considering that some Inuyasha DVDs were $25, SK DVDs don't seem all that bad. I can't wait to get the next one!
