Yes!!!! Shaman King for the win!!! ^_^;;; I'm just really happy that what I think is a fairly well produced dub, which has been in my opinion, very faithful to the original series considering timeslot and well the fact, that is IS 4kids.... YuGiOh was, quite obviously a fad, and I am surprised if they didn't expect this... Kirby, well, there was huge uproar among the fan community about the movie, which, was apparently a horrible butchering of the last 2 episodes. I just kinda hope Nintendo doesn't suffer. It's a shame Shaman King is ending, and, not coming back, considering it is making 4kids money. One would think, they would enjoy profits. Anyways.... one last thing, I am kind of worried about "other properties". Mainly, I hope they include things like Ninja Turtles, and not things like One Piece. I wonder if this was enough news to make a thread about.... anyways I suppose if not it will just fade naturally XD;;... >_>;;; *evaporates* |

Well, they're making the profits from things like the TCG, toys, and video games. Just because the show's ending, doesn't mean that they'll stop making money off of it! But other things listed in this report show signs of 4kids' downfall. Which is a good thing.
Yu-Gi-Oh's popularity and revenue are going down, so is Pokemon's. But since Shaman King's revenue is going up, that means it's prolonging the life of 4kids by about a month or so.
Decreasing target prices, lowering market status. From "hold" to "underperform" means they are selling less than expected, which means they're income is going to decrease. Also, lowering their target price 12% means that they're desperate for money. Another sign of 4kids fall!

As much as I hate to say it...I'm sort of glad this has happened. Since the show's done so well the company will be more inclined toward releasing uncut DVDs faster.
Then again... this is 4kids we're talking about.

Then again... this is 4kids we're talking about. I was thinking that too when I read the article. I don't want to get my hopes up. It doesn't surprise me at all that 4kids is losing money. They have a way of burning bridges as they go. But, maybe this will be a good thing for animes that we love? |

That whole comment was very ironic from 4Kids.
Since the "profit" for Shaman King came from 1 mjor source, the TCG. Not toys, not videogames (well, maybe a bit from the Legacy games), and not from DVDs. The only Shaman King producted shipped was the TCG. 4Kids made all their money from that deal. And now the TCG has been cancelled. Good going 4Kids.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *cries* Those cards were so pretty too... As a side note, from what I've heard, MOST companies that make dvd's and t.v programing has made less profits this year. A lot of anime companies included (which is why most are starting to back off a bit from liscencing so much.) In comparison, 4kids didn't actually do that badly. Depressingly enough. |

UDE was suppose to release the second booster pack, "Spirit Warriors" this month. But it got cancelled. Somebody over at Pojo (where I am also registered, and do Card of the Day Reviews) got Upperdeck to say that future releases of the game are "on hold," because of TV ratings. They plan to monitor the series from here on.

ah... oO ... if the cards were selling the rating shouldn't really matter right? I mean when I used to collect Pokemon cards the series was on cable and I didn't watch it... most of the people collecting cards these days don't watch the shows. *remembers not to use the laws of logic with 4-kids*
randomly off topic.
I wonder where the ratings come from... o.o no one ever asks me anything and most of the nelson ratings are done by scary people and soccer moms who scare me o_____o.

I'm kinda shocked that Shaman king was a best bet for 4kids.Too bad that they didn't handle that very good to me.I mean, if it was making you money, why don't you make more uncut dvds out and put them out and keep the TCG? It just doesn't make that much sense to me.But what do I know?I'm only 15. XD |

Yeah, Upperdeck is very ticked at 4Kids. Since they are both making tons of money from Yu-Gi-Oh! cards they will keep making those. But from now until the unknown future, 4Kids will be making their own TCGs in-house and not giving them to Upperdeck.
DVD production has also seem to be crawling to a stop between 4Kids and FUNimation. So 4Kids may have to go back to creating their DVDs in-house again. About 3-5 years ago they got rid of making their own DVDs since it was cheaper to use FUNimation's warehouse and development center.

I recall something about Funimation and 4kids actually having a falling out of sorts.
.... Of course, don't take my word for it, this could of just been a dream...

i never got any of the shaman king cards they were pretty tho. my friend has some. i wanted to steal her marco *steals* but i hafta agree with the whole "downfall of four kids" at least to some extent. it used to actually not be that bad when i didn't know japanese version of things existed. i mean back when i was all "omg yugioh wooh" i actually used dub names *is sickned* but i didn't mind. so half the fans don't even know any different so i don't think they would really think it so bad. i mean yes smoke randomly coming out of a man who always has his mouth open is quite disturbing but it is 4kids. what i do hafta say i absolutly hate what they did is 1 skipping the one egypt arc thing in YGO i wanted to see akeifa TT^TT and that the shows are just getting dubbed worse, they turne TMM into the absolute worst show i've ever seen. i couldn't even stand to watch it. i also hate the weekly stupid themes they have... the only one i ever liked was one that i can remember that had ryu in it a lot. i like ryu and dub ryu, inspite of everything, seems to always make me laugh. in all honesty tho i don't think 4kids will be around for long, when they started showing one piece on cartoon network and shaman king ended i completly stopped watching 4kids at all, one thing i ponder that is slightly off topic, what ever happened when they showed shaman king on cartoon network, i didn't watch because i was at my friends b-day party... woah, another randomly fact... her b-day is this friday... it's been a year and they have only showed eps. 1 and 2. i guess no one watched....

A bit off topic- Karim's dubbed voice (Jonathan todd ummmm someone)Sounds a LOT like an actual indian.
I like the dub version but I think I'll like the original better since there are no name changes or edits *sighs* Funanimation,You could've dubbed shaman king.... After all if funanimation had dubbed Shaman King it would have very little edits.
