I am aware that Tao Yúan (Tao En) is an uncle instead of a dad in the dub.
But what is he called? Do they call him "En"? Or does he not have a name at all?

i can't recall if they call him en or len's uncle. im also baffled as to why they changed it from dad to uncle. i think lovely said at one point that it's fine for uncle's to beat up nephews, but not dad's beating up sons. >__>

In the dub, they actually refer to him as "Uncle En". It's actually quite creepy, because in a later episode (don't remember the number) Ren mentions his "father" and En as one in the same. (Sort of a goof up) I don't know why they changed it either. We talked about it briefly in another thread, probably concerning the parental abuse thing...
EDIT: HATE spelling errors...

If it was during the second Gate of Babylon episode, I do not think there was a mistake. Ren was asking "Uncle" En about his father, and as far as I know, I do not think Ren mentioned En again after the Tao grounds fights, except in his Shaman fight episode, but he was still "uncle."

I never really understood why they changed it anyway. I mean, fathers beating up their children, unfortuntately, isn't very uncommon in these here United States. (I personally know of two families where that happened... not to mention crazy aunts... but I digress...)

I think it was before the Babylon Gate episode, Useless. But I could be wrong. I could stop being lazy and go check...

XD crazy aunts. maybe they changed it because they don't want kids trying to beat up their dads, not that they can't beat up their uncles but it's harder to get to an uncle some times.

I thought in the episode where we first meet Tao "Mom" and Tao "grandpa", the two tell Len that his father died because he made friends like what Len was doing right now.

That did happen in the dub, but only in the dub. That conversation didn't take place in the original because Ren's father was still alive. Because he's En. And MetaKnight, Stop right there...
