I normally don't like to link to fansubs, but, well, I just HAD to link to this one. It's the Shaman King New Years special. (Just click the Shaman King Link and DON'T click on the other stuff that is liscenced... I'm watching you  ). Now, while most clip shows are an exercise in pain, this clip show is different ;D. Why? well, watch it and see ^_~ . Actually, Shaman King has 3 clip shows, but this is the only that's special. This special seems to take place after episode 25 by the way. Anyways, for those of you who have only seen the dub, this is a great way for you to finally hear the original voices. Isn't Manta a cutie ^^ ? (Yoh too actually  .) Anyways, after you watch it please give me your thoughts ^_^ . |

Well, that was good to finally hear the Japanese voice actors and compare them to the dub counterparts.
Anybody else notice that Ryu rolls his R's? Rather thick accent they gave the character originally...
The original series seems to be alot more introspective from the clips they showed of the character interactions.
I guess I'd like to say I like the US speech better that Ren / Len gives when he thinks he loses to Yoh as opposed to the "wind" monologue he gives in the original. My two cents...

I'm probably going to get flamed for saying this but...I like some of the english voices better than the Japanese voices. I guess my oppinion would probably be different if I was more used the Japanese voices. Since I'm not used to them it was a little difficult to decipher who was talking at the beginning of that clip. Near the end it got a little better though.

I heard it was pretty good. I'll edit this when I watch it.
I LOVE the Japanese seiyuu SO much! They are AWESOME!!
- Satou Yuuko - Yoh - She's new to the voice acting world, I believe. She's pretty good. I love how she can make Yoh sounds so calm, happy, and I love how she expresses feelings in her voice... though, Yoh sounds rather girly at times.
- Hayashibara Megumi - Anna - She's an awesome singer. And, she's a great voice actress, too. I like how she expresses Anna's feelings, like, when Yoh's soul got taken, that scream sent chills down my spine! She's played several roles... I'm not gonna list `em all... She played... um... Female Ranma, and... I'm having a hard time remembering...
- Paku Romi - Ren - I like her, too. She played Ichijouji Ken in Digimon 02, and, wah~ She's great as Ren, too. I love how she speaks in a rough boy-ish way, how you can just barely make out the female voice in Ren... until you listen to "Ryuuro."
- Takehito Koyasu - Faust VIII - I love him!! Takehito-sama is my favorite-est seiyuu ever!! I like this voice better for Faust than the... er... fruit-ish English dub voice. Played as... Milliardo Peacecraft from Gundam Wing, and Fujimiya Ran from Weiß, and, again, a billion other roles, like Hayashibara.
- Inuyama Inuko - Manta - Cute voice. Not much for me to say except, she's cool! She also played Meowth in the Japanese Pokemon. My sister says she sounds like Yuuki Hiro...
- Horie Yui - Iron Maiden Jeanne - Played as Narusegawa Naru from Love Hina... Her voice is really soft, but it's suitable for Jeanne-sama.
- - He rolls his Rs like DDRRRRRRRRRRR~!! As in, really hard. It's really thick. But I like it... better than his weird voice in the dub... His song sounds like a Japanese Elvis song...
- Takase Akimi[a?]tsu - Marco - When he sings, he sounds like Gackt.... his voice is really deep.
- Ueda Yuuji - Horo Horo - He played Sagara Sanosuke in Rurouni Kenshin. He's cool! He can make Horo sound so funny sometimes...
- Takayama Minami - Hao - Yet another great VA. She's also the lead singer for Two-Mix [remember the Gundam Wing music? That's her! Can you believe it?!] I love how she conveys Hao's every emotion. Beautiful. And when she sings Hao's themes... ooh, gorgeous voicings!!
- [Argh... I'm having a hard time remembering everything...] Soumi Youko - Lyserg - She does alright.. nothing special, IMO.
- Midorikawa Hikaru - Silva - *drools* My second fave male seiyuu. <3 I didn't know this until I found a site that said his seiyuu was Midorikawa, and I squealed soooo bad~! Remember Heero Yuy? That's him! *big smily face*
- Kumai Motoko - Chocolove - Played as Sumomo from chobits and Kinomiya Takao from Beyblade. I love!!

Ryu's original accent... hmmm... it's a bit hard to explain. It's not regional. His accent is sort of an old-fashioned tough guy (he even uses old fashioned terms from time to time.)
For the record, Yoh sounds a bit different in the New Years special than the rest of the series (ussually) because he's just being silly in the special ^.^ . funga fu fu ^^ .
Considering their overall character personalities, the voices actually really fit them in the Japanese version. But I can get, how if you've only heard the dub, that the voices might be a bit jarring. (that , and remember, personalites have been changed in the dub.)
Some more notes on the original VA's:
Romi Paku: My current favorite Japanese VA. She has such a unique voice! She also plays some of my favorite characters in other series. Namely, Heimdall in Matantei Loki Ragnarok and Edward in Full Metal Alchemist.
Hao's VA also played Dilandau in Escaflowne and ChocoLove's VA played Syaoran in Cardcaptor Sakura

Yakuza would roll their R's and pronounce them hard...
I retract my earlier statement...I'm pegging Ryu's accent as gang member now...

Oops, I forgot that Kumai Motoko played Syaoran!! Wah, dork~! Well, I did name two other roles, good enough... besides, it was 11pm when I wrote it.  The Special was rather funny! Epitaruki Upahhorukke~! *repeat faster and faster* XDD Oh, yes, and, "Funga fu fu... funga fu fu." Paku Romi's a great female seiyuu! I just KNEW it was her doing Edward's voice in FMA! It's, like, I'm recognizing voices, finally. That was a great video. It wasn't the highest of quality, but, yeah, the contents of the video made up for it. Funga fu fu~! Most of them were pretty good, ne? Yeah, I really liked them , I was especially happy that Manta finally got a song ^^ . Sooo cute ^^. I was also happy with Anna's new song, mostly because I wasn't a fan of "Ringo Urami uta". I dunno.. the title sounded like something... Ren-ish. [Translation of title: Searching for Truth, according to my dicionary.] The voice... I dunno... It kinda sounded like Manta and Yoh and something at the same time, only kinda-sorta, but then, another voice came in and I got distorted thinking... I was like... "WHO IS THIS?!"
