Personally, I don't think Marco is "evil", and I don't really hate him..(and no, it doesn't have to do with the fact he slaps Lyserg) I think he just has....issues....
He's so caught up with worshipping Jeanne that he thinks any sign of disrespect towards her would mean that person must get beaten (Lyserg) or killed.
Truth be told, I never really thought of him much except for the guy who leads all the x-laws little killing sprees towards "evil-ness"

The X-Laws are an obvious allusion to fundementalist Christianity, and what fanaticism does to people. However, they're all delightfully human characters...like most of Takei's cast. I'm just sick of people refusing to acknowledge that.
If this is pointless now I don't care if it's locked....

It's his flaw that makes people hate him. Some people hate Marco and some don't, so don't waste your time and energy trying to convert people.

Erm, I think she just wants to know why people dislike him so much. I really don't see why everyone hates him either. I've known people way worse than Marco who publicly beat their wives and kids and everyone else still loves them. The only thing that irks me is the fanaticism, and I actually find that very funny. I find most cultists very amusing, and any religiuos thing in general.
As for the pedophile thing, I can't argue that he's not... But I think Lyserg is old enough for it to be consensual, unless you hold that he is actually brainwashed or raped.
And Marco is part of the secret society of people who wear glasses and never contacts. He is vice-president.

Er, it depends on how old Lyserg was when he joined the X-Laws. As far as I know (which isn't very far), the age of consent in Japan is sixteen, and wasn't Lyserg fourteen when he left Yoh's group? (Plus, they were in America at the time...age of consent here is eighteen.) Mentally, yes, he probably is, but now is not the time or place to get into my moral stance on age-of-consent laws.... Besides which, they're both fictional. And considering the implausibility of other parts of Shaman King's plot, well...I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions. -Innle

Wow Cakes, you're right. That post sounded mean, I didn't intend for it to. I was only trying to say that it's really hard to make most people change their opinions.
I really don't hate Marco, he just creeps me out. Sorry Innle, I wasn't trying to be mean! ^_^;

Sorry Innle, but I just don't like the guy and it has nothing to do with Lyserg. I do have a few family members who are gung-ho christians and have tried a few times to get me to come to their church. Which I did for a while and it was okay, but I definetly wasn't getting out of it what they were. I just didn't feel comfortable there. When I tried to exlpain how I felt, I got the guilt trip of a lifetime from them. It still makes me angry about how high and mighty they can be and that is exactly what Marco reminds me of.
Look it's great to have a belief, and I applaud Marco for being able to believe in his cause with all his will, but the way he pushes his agenda on to other people is just wrong. Who knows, you may know the correct path to walk Marco, but I don't have to agree with you now!! Your beliefs are yours and not mine!! I will believe the way I see fit to believe. Just because it's not your way doesn't make it wrong.
Oh, and you also have no right to kill Hao's followers like that. The dub of the vampire ep. had Marco mention that it was their right to eliminate this evil element. What gives you that right? I'm done here!! Sorry if I upset anyone.
