Could someone please tell me what’s going on between Hao and Yoh in the manga? I keep hearing bits of them meeting up and not fighting, but I’m all messed up. I’m not sure when these meetings take place or what they’re about so could someone please tell me what’s going on?

I believe there are at least five times when Hao and Yoh have confronted each other, not all fights. Hao doesn't seem to be concerned about fighting, because he knows Yoh can't beat him. In fact, he wants Yoh to be a match for him. That's why he wanted the Chou Senji Ryakketsu sent to him.

*A-a-ahem* o_o In Hao's first life, he was an omn---...err...priest guy...0_o And he mastered the five points of the pentagram, which allows him to change the elements of the SoF. Now, I'm sure you all knew that...(...or not), but I bet you're wondering just why he wants to kill humans.

Well, for two reasons. First off, he had...reishi (I think that's how you spell it ><), which allowed him to read minds, because of this, he was able to hear all the petty and jealous thoughts of hatred from humans. This was only one factor, the other...

When Hao was little, he DID have a mother, I don't know if she had a name...we'll leave Matamune to tell us that. But unfortunately, a group of humans killed his mother because they thought she was a...fox demon...I think...and they burned his house down too. (><?) So...Hao literally went crazy, and thus was born his dream to kill all humans.

So yeah, Hao wants to kill the entire human race because of what a certain group did to him. But there's another reason...

Hao mentions somewhere in the manga (I think...a friend who has it told me ><), that he's afraid of what humans can do. So he wants to kill them all before they can do anything bad, like what they did to him and his mother.

He also met Matamune in his first life, and saved him from war and starvation. But Matamune betrayed him, and helped Asakura Yohken kill him. But Matamune didn't do it because he hated Hao, he did it because he cared about him, he wanted Hao to leave his...erm...messed up goals behind. Matamune even comments in Yoh and Anna's backstory (I think ><) that Hao was his best friend.

That's basically the reason why Hao doesn't trust anyone, because he's afraid he'll be betrayed again.

Basically...Hao's goals mostly have to do with the fact that he doesn't want those bad things to happen again. Even if he has it in a messed up logic. o_O;

And-- it is now clear of why resurie likes Hao so much. ><

Second life, he reincarnated as a Patch, and stole the SoF, but um...yeah...he was killed again. He reincarnated again, but the body he chose was that of twins, which is why Yoh exists. ><

In the anime, apparently Yoh kills him...but we don't really know that. o_o >< Since...it just doesn't seem normal for someone to die that way! x_X *see ending and you'll see what I mean* Although, I say Yoh feels guilty for 'killing' Hao. He even shows it after he slashes Hao.

See?! He's full of GUILT!!

In the manga, apparently, Hao DOES become Shaman King, and Yoh the others are off to kill him...or something...>> << >> I'm not too informed on that part.
