Shinjirarenai!! Does anyone else know about the live action animes coming out within the next few years? I don't know about you guys, but this is the first time i know about a live action movie based on an anime. and IMO, anime should not be played by real life actors!!
First one I heard off the street was a live action DBZ comin up from Fox Films. That's right!! Anime produced in American movie studios!! T-T Rumors say Brendan Frasier is gonna star as Goku, and hot porn star Asia Carrera also gonna be in there ~_^. (i also heard she rejected the offer) So, like, WTF??!! does anyone else think it's impossibly absurd to compact 400+ episodes into a 3 hour long movie?? People who watch this movie to see what the rave about DBZ is all about, but haven't seen any anime before in their lives, will get such a bad impression!! And I seriously can't imagine Brendan Frasier playin the part of "Ka-me-ha-me-HA!!"
anyway...it's supposed to come out in 2006 or somethin, so brace yourselves.
Shortly after I heard this horrifying news, I also heard about another American produced anime live-action movie...this time based off of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Hideaki Anno will have little to no part in its production. How those guys are gonna pull it off, I have no idea. How are they gonna pack all that dense material, the results of that anime massacre could be worse than all the T.V. dubs you all have been complainin about combined!! Oh! I could see it now!! Poor Rei!! How are they gonna screw up the plug suits?!
Practically, I don't see how they can efficiently simulate an anime character in a real life actor. We've all seen the cosplayers, and no matter how good they are, I don't really see them as the characters themselves...but tats just me...
I shudder to think of a Shaman King live action movie (although we all know that's highly unlikely)...xD i can imagine Verne Troyer playin Manta!! LOL!! Mini-Morty!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!
Anyone else pissed off by these ideas?
EDIT: Just so everyone knows, Anno is the brainchild and director of the Eva anime, and is one of the elite members of that god-like studio known as GAINAX

In my opinion, if you have any anime up for live action, don't do it, because most of the time, you won't be able to get anything looking like the anime characters.

Ahahahaha! XD Brendan Frasier as Goku...I can see it now...HAH! I'de like to see that, not the movie, I mean Frasier acting like Goku. XD I'de probably be cracking up through a movie like that. XD Ok...now, I for one think it's a bad idea. I mean, look at all the movies they've made from american cartoons. I honestly didn't like any of them... Same with movies based off games. I hated Final Fantasy. >< Gah~ Eva? A live action movie? Dear God no...I'de like to see how they would handle something like that...I mean...Eva is hard to understand...people who haven't seen the series will be confused...and those really ignorant people will think it's another movie masterpiece and not an anime (You know...those people who think anime sucks...). >< Well...maybe... Too bad Arnold's govoner (spelling?) now, he would've been great in a movie like Eva. XD! I hope you noticed my sarcasm... If they ever do make an SK movie (just joking here) I bet you they'll get Brad Pitt to be Yoh. XD! Ahahahaha! *is shot*

Poor Rei!! How are they gonna screw up the plug suits?! Can you please post some actual proof that there is going to be a live-action Dragonball Z movie being produced by 20thCentury Fox? I have heard this rumor about a million times and nobody has ever posted any proof other than a pic of a movie poster that could very well be a Photoshop job. Some people say Jackie Chan will play Goku and then other people will say it's Jet Lee, but nobody ever posts any proof. The last I heard was that 20th Century Fox had the rights to produce a live-action Dragonball Z movie, but there hasn't been any actual production made with it. I'm not even sure if they still have the rights to produce it. A live-action Dragonball Z movie wouldn't be too hard to pull off, though. The whole series has the exact same plot. All Dragonball Z is about is just a bunch of lame fighters battling (in slow-motion) these evil bad guys trying to destroy the earth for no reason at all, so it's not like it'll be hard to do. The live-action Evangelion movie on the other hand is true, and is being produced by ADV, if I'm not mistaken. I've heard that they were going to change the names of the characters in Evangelion to American names for the live-action movie, but I don't know how accurate that information is. The only live-action versions of anime series I've ever seen have been Sera-myu (the live-action Sailor Moon musical series) and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (the live-action Sailor Moon TV series re-make), both which I thought were very good. I actually like Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon more than both the anime and the manga. I think live-action versions of anime can be produced as long as it's done properly. To be a proper adaption, all of the characters must be identical to their original versions, all of the important themes from the original version must be respresented in the live-action movie, and it must have good actors that actually resemble their animated counterparts. I've also heard rumors that Tokyopop was going to produce a live-action Samurai High School movie starring Melissa Joan Heart, and I saw on the Entertainment Network a headline that said the manga "Battle Angel Alita" (or whatever it was called) is also going to be made into a live-action movie. I don't know anything about either series or how accurate this information is, though.

Can you please post some actual proof that there is going to be a live-action Dragonball Z movie being produced by 20thCentury Fox? hehe...skeptical are we? well, the first time i heard the news was from a fellow otaku from Harvard University, so that should be a good enough source by itself. He and his collegues from his school are crazy experts in anime, especially Eva. They did complete research projects on interpretations of Eva, and he was all too eager to dump his findings on an unsuspecting mind. Man, this guy is soo much more obsessed with anime than I am, and he's the one goin to freakin Harvard!! T-T back on topic, if you're still skeptical, this is the first site that comes to mind, hope it's reputable enough, Takato: www.shonenjump.com/graphicnovels/dbz.phpTo be a proper adaption, all of the characters must be identical to their original versions, all of the important themes from the original version must be respresented in the live-action movie, and it must have good actors that actually resemble their animated counterparts. that's why I mentioned the cosplayers. some anime characters are too hard to simulate, or at least impractically hard enough to put into a movie with enough resemblance (e.g. yoh's crazy hair!! ren's crazy hair!! hao's crazy hair!! lyserg's crazy hair *cheers from the fangirls*) okay, it's mostly just the hair, but then there are things that you have in an anime that you just don't have anywhere else (e.g. the action background of any character that's going to make an attack, where the background becomes fast moving lines in one or two colors, or something like that) that's why anime is so special, and why I think it is almost an absurd idea to transform a series into a live action movie.

The college a person gets into has nothing to do with how reliable their information is. Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to be smart and untruthful at the same time. And those guys could've been just as mislead by rumors as anyone else. All I could see from that website you linked me to about the live-action Dragonball Z movie was that it said 20th Century Fox announced the movie, but I didn't see anything about a cast list or release date or even that they're still producing it.

Well...i'd like to repeat from the first post of this thread, in that I heard this "off the street." There are many different sources, some more reliable than others, that I've found, but you're right Takato...no definitive proof of DBZ movie being produced by Fox Films. However...sources do point toward that direction, and it can't hurt to brace ourselves. ^-^
Takato, i hope you're right if you're sayin that there isnt gonna be a DBZ movie comin out. Then the world will be spared from an awful rain of blood over the Fox headquarters.
....
0_0 OMG!! Can it be true??!! I'm finally a Shaman-in-Training!!! T-T

What I find interesting is that no one is paying attention to the fact that these are NOT anime movies being discussed. These are American productions based on anime.
If you want to look at REAL live action anime, look at the Japanese stage shows and musicals. Or the live action television productions of shows like Sailor Moon (Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon >>>>>>> Sailor Moon anime).

lol, i find it funny that you would show me a site where, after Fox's official statement, it says "We have DEFININITVE PROOF that there WILL be a DBZ LIVE ACTION MOVIE!!!!!!" I know they were joking, but it's a funny, because you coulda just went to dbz.com and gotten the same thing.
In any case, that news is kinda old (April 2004 says on the top), while the SJ site I showed you is updated monthly.

while the SJ site I showed you is updated monthly. What parts are updated monthly on that site? That sentence could have been there since 2003 and you wouldn't know. Seriously, the DBZ movie rumor has been around for a few years now.
