Ah, yes, one of the (possibly many) threads I shall do on this kinda theme.
BTW, you don't have to just say your favourite and why. You could also say like how it was ruined by... A dub, per se. Doesn't have to be English either, as you can see from mine, below. Or you could say what made it less than perfect...
To get the ball rolling, I'd say Evangelion's cliffhanger in Eppy 5, when Ramiel has just fired its beam at Shinji in Unit-01, and we get the close-up of Shinji inside the cockpit, with all the LCL going around (kinda symbolic in ways), and you just black out, abruptly on Misato's "No! Shinji!", or "Shinji-kun!", or "Portio, Shinji!", which ever dubbed way you prefer... Personally I hate the Spanish way this scene was done, because they can NOT act, or go with the right words... "Portio, Shinji!" may be the right phrasing, but it looks so stupid, being crammed into Misato's mouth. Then there's Shinji's "screaming". Victor Ugarte (I think it's that, anyway) cannot pull anything like Shinji's voice nearly as well as Spike Spencer or Megumi Ogata. I personally prefer Spike's Shinji screams to Megumi's, but they both portrayed the situation accurately.
Shinji was being blasted by a beam ten times bigger than him in diameter... Worse... It was at his chest that he felt the pain most... You would NOT, repeat, NOT, be able to breathe clearly before screaming, like Victor did. Megumi did it right. She made Shinji gasp for air, and sound like the poor boy was getting nowhere. Spike may not have made the gasping noises, but he certainly made it clear that Shinji wasn't breathing perfectly well in between...
Wow, I'm having Resurie-like lengthed rants... Sugoi...

Well, the best cliffhangers for me always seem to lie in shoujo manga. Will he girl the girl again? Will this new rival be able to beat her? Who *is* that guys real father XDXDXDXXD

XD My rants...aren't...that long....>D *cough* Anyhoo~ Mmm, mine is in SK. =P In episode...I think it's either 60 or 61, I'm too lazy to check. XD It's when Hao consumes Yoh's soul, and Anna comes along. I have the clip in Japanese. >D So I'll be able to comment on the Jap. and Spa. version. The cliffhanger is when Anna sees Yoh, the screen goes black and we hear her scream. I would just like to say that Hayashibara Megumi's scream was AWESOME. *-* She did it so well! I love hearing that scream over and over. >D In the spanish version, Anna's VA does it nicely, but not as good as Megumi's scream. Also, in spanish, you can make out her VA screaming "YOH!!" (probably because they pronounce it "ee-oh" =P). But with Megumi, you couldn't tell if she was screaming his name or just screaming. I think she was just screaming... Heh...I think I wrote 'screaming' too much...XD#nosmileys |

Gomene, Resurie-sama... *sweatdrop* I kinda exaggerated...
But anyways, a quick afterthought about the spoiled Spanish version of the Shinj-Ramiel-Scream bit...
It was also kinda ruined by the "Contimura", or you pronounce "To Be Continued" in Spanish, at the abrupt black-out. You see, on the Eva DVDs, on the Spanish dub, a Spanish man crams in a translation of every English/Japanese/whatever word that appears on screen, making it very annoying, especially when you hear "E-Fan-Hugel-Lion" in the middle of "Zankoku na Tenshi no Te-Ze".
Deep apologies to anyone who was offended by my slight rant about the Spanish. I mean no disrespect to them. I just think their dubs could be handled better.

Oh, I for one am not insulted about the spanish thing, I hate the language actually. =P I'm just surrounded by it. XD Not all spanish dubs are bad. SK and CCS were done really well. I don't remember Eva in spanish...I didn't watch it in spanish. Heh...maybe because it was bad but I didn't notice. >D

Mine is muuuuuuch longer. >3 One is Resurie's (She beat me to it...AGAIN! >< *shakes fist*) And another...though I guess it wouldn't count as anime...but well, it's sorta near it in manga too =3 If you don't have the next book, it's a pain waiting for the next one T_T Well, I think one was at the end of Volume 19 * I'm not doing spoilers damn it >< *points to Title* MWAHAHA! -is hit-* When Yoh had told Anna that he would become Shaman King to help solve her uncontrollable power, Anna came out and stared at him. Then, off in the distance, one of Anna's oni appear and it's even bigger. At that moment, Anna has a solemn look in her face...not a cliffhanger THAT much but.... T_TAnd in anime...Ranma1/2. >< The manga actually HAD an ending but in the anime, it ends after Ranma saw his mother. (Though he pretended to be a girl) Nooothing happened..just a cliffhanger with them at the end waving goodbye.. ._. Inuyasha is one too. The manga is still continuing but the anime ends so...so...uncomplete...Naraku is still alive, the Shikon no Tama is still scattered, the love triangle of Inuyasha, Kagome, and Kikyou still remains... T_T This was disheartening...Oh well, I have my manga. XD |

Yeah, probably so. Most other countries have SK uncut but just translated in their language, so I guess it takes less time to dub? o_0...SK for me isn't on anymore...

What country do you live in? I live in Nicaragua. It's the largest country in Central America. Yet, it's also the poorest. >< It used to be all pretty and stuff, it was the best developed country in Central Amer. I mean. But there was this huge earthquake in '72. o_0 And everything fell down. >_>; *cough* Sorry for getting off topic. ^_^;; |

Yah lol.Screen capture be good seeing as in the dub version it'll either be cut or not there or something annoying and have the 'To be continued writing' appear spoiling the effect of it
