Duel Masters

Now, I've never watched it, and I never intend to. I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but it's interesting to know that the Duel Masters manga was actually... a Magic: The Gathering manga. I'm serious. I have a few of them from a japanese magazine called Korokoro (I think that's it) Comics, which is like a huge, less serious Shonen Jump. I'm not sure if it was changed to original creatures for the anime or if was changed in the English version, though.

I've seen a couple episodes. They have a couple of good jokes on that show ;D Despite the fact that its a clear cut rip-off of a certain other card-battling anime/manga. I don't really know the story of it being a MtG manga or whatever But then, I start to wonder if maybe thats the whole point...a parody

I'm not sure if it came out before or after YGO, probably after. Technically it wasn't a ripoff, since it was based on Magic: The Gathering. Of course, they don't want you to know this.
