I noticed that VIZ has been "revising" its Shonen Jump translations.
For instance a lot of swearing has been going out of volumes from earlier printings.
But what takes the cake is the later printings of Yu-Gi-Oh! Volume 1
Oh my god! Guess what I found this time..
They changed the whole enjo kosai (teenage dates with old men) thing into a nightclub reference!
VIZ is so not getting away with this!
Tell your friends (even of little kids) to NOT buy the white spine Yu-Gi-Oh! Volume 1 books. Only the black spine (original printing) ones will do.

(gets a creeped out look on her face) I've never heard of enjo kosai and I don't think I'd want to read about such a thing but I do wish they'd keep some more cursing in. The only edits I've noticed were One Piece's romanization of Zoro's name and Hikaru no Go's replacing damn with darn.

Well, in YGO Vol. 1, Yugi and Jonouchi suspect Anzu of going on dates with old men to get money, and they follow her around. They end up at the Burger Restaurant, revealing that Anzu in fact does not go on dates with old men.
But they changed it to them suspecting her of "working at a nightclub". Even though that's still controversial, I still find the change unnecessary.

Well, I think that's crazy. What's the point of reading the manga if you're not getting what the Japanese are? Anyway, if they're trying to make it for little kids, I seriously think nightclubs are as bad as dating old men. >.>

Yeah, a person from the FUNi forums argued that it's prolly more of a cultural change than anything else, since "nightclub" workers are still very taboo.
Still, the edits come off as clumsy in my mind.

That's just... Weird. I too agree that nightclubs are probably as bad as dating old men. Well, I can't say I'm not surprised. VIZ editing their manga isn't anything new...
I own the first two Yuugiou manga in black spine, but my 3, 4, and 5 volumes are white. Is there any editing done to those?

Whoah, haven't been here in a while. How are ya guys? Prolly don't remember me.
Yohkun, I don't know about revisiting old translations, but they seem to have some strict guidelines on swearing for Yu-Gi-Oh Duelist and Yu-Gi-Oh Millenium World. This could be to do with the merging of Viz and another company. Yu-Gi-Oh is now allowed 1 'crap' per volume and seemingly nothing worse. Instead of any real swearing we get '&%#@'.
Yu-Gi-Oh Duelist has also had two major picture edits so far. The first was Jonouchi flipping off Bandit Keith in Duelist #7. The second major edit was in Duelist #12 where Pandora originally played a Trap Card that trapped Black Magician on a steel cross topped with a chainsaw. Some metal was added to the cross to make it a grid.
They're being pretty sloppy with Duelist as a whole, but Millenium World is doing pretty well. They don't seem to care about violence and blood, only swearing and giant crucifixes. Hmm.

As long as they have the old VIZ book logo, it should be okay.

Actually, I find the symbols pointless because kids know what it is anyway (except sometimes I get confused 'cause many words could fit in that blank) and if you have to, put on the RATED T FOR LANGUAGE and put in the words. People still buy it anyway...

Two things:
1. Izlude, a poster in several anime forums, told me VIZ is trying to edit "Dragon Ball" again. I'll get specifics later. Again, get the old printings to be safe.
2. Another edit in the new Yu-Gi-Oh! Vol. 1 printing: Remember when Ms. Chono mentions that she was looking for cigarettes, lipstick, and condoms? They removed "condoms".

Okay, in the most recent SJ, did they draw bathing suits on the girls in the onsen in Naruto? It's just that the suits looked so...odd And while were on the topic of SJ, did anyone else notice that Manta was flying around when Horo was envisioning his butterbur field? XD
