Yeah, just the intro song, so kill any notion right now about posting anything else on these two shows...
Some of us were singing the Cardcaptors theme over on another thread and it got me back to thinking how I like the Cardcaptors intro better than the CCS intros.
Now think about this: Yeah, all 3 Japanese songs had far more time, effort, and thought put into them and sound about ten times better alone.
But as far as intros go, the CCS intros are fluff, where as, the Cardcaptors intro tells you the entire jist of the show in under 45 seconds.
My theory is, an intro to a show should give you some idea of what that show is about, and CCS just doesn't do it in any of their 3 intros.

So full of hate *cries* ! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
O.k fine... *ahem-- trying to act like a good mod* No... I am not a fan of the CC opening. I dislike songs that repeat the name of the show over and over. I prefer openings that convey the emotion of the show over an opening that gives a run down of the plot.
Ooh! I almost forgot, the CCS openings DO tell a bit about the show. CCS is only half about the cards you know, the other half of the show was purely about the relationships.

*plays devil's advocate*I prefer openings that convey the emotion of the show over an opening that gives a run down of the plot. Where was that emotion again? In between her stepping on the sakura petal and peaking out from behind the card? I'm being mean, but the first CCS intro is fluff...there's nothing redeeming about it except for the C3B parody of it. ^_^ Intro 2...fluff. Intro 3...I just told Saturn that I liked this intro...but now that we're both watching it...it's fluff. I like intros that show characters and their emotions and mannerisms too, but it has to be more than a split second to count. I think Naruto is a really good example...and I'm trying to think of a show that came out at the same time as CCS to compare apples to apples but I just can't... Now that you mention it...I think EVERY American Intro that has a voice says the shows name over and over again...let me sing a few bars from my era and see if you can spot out the shows: "Transformers, more than meets the eye...Transformers, robots in disguise." "GIJoe! A real American hero! GIJoe is there!" "Let's goooo Ghostbusters...let's go, lets go!" "Gummi Bears! Bouncing here and there and everywhere...they are the Gummi Bears." "Ducktales. A woo ooo! Tales of daring do-bad and good luck tales. A woo ooo!" "Visionaries...knights of the magical light. Visionaries...with magical powers they fight." "When there's trouble you know who to call...TEEN TITANS!" Oh wait...that's from last weekend... Yeah, that is funny you mention that, Lovely. I could do this all day from Animaniacs to She Ra, Princess of Power. LC

I find the Cardcaptors opening theme song to be extremely cheesy. Let's take a look at the lyrics to see why.
Wind, rain, shadow, wood, Sword, thunder, power, sleep Cardcaptors of the clow, Expect the unexpected now
First of all, there's the annoying phrase, "Expect the Unexpcted" which really gets on my nerves. It annoys me because it's just...confusing. Doesn't "expect the unexpected" mean "unexpect the expected"?
The secrets of the clow Were all a mystery But when this mighty book was opened The powers was set free
The fact that they mispronouced "Clow" alone really annoys me and the powers WAS set free? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that improper grammar?
Cardcaptors A mystic adventure Cardcaptors A quest for all time Each card posseses a power all its own We've got to find them to bring the power home
Yep, they're definetly bringing the power home. Especially when the Wood Card starts growing out of Sakura's basement. The rest of the song is the refrain repeated. This song just reeks with cheesyness and cornies. I think even the Digmon English opening theme song is better than this. At least that song had proper grammer. Another thing I forgot to mention. Yes, the Cardcaptor Sakura theme songs are fluff, but guess what? So is the entire show. Cardcaptor Sakura isn't some overly-dramatic and serious tvshow. It's the type of tvshow that's cute, adorable, and make you wanna pick up one of the characters and give them a big hug. It is a little girls' cartoon, after all.

you dislike songs that repeat the name of the show repeatedly lovely?? heh...that must mean you hate every dub song Actually... yeah... pretty much ^^; . The one exception to this was the fox kids dub opening to Escaflowne. Sure, it didn't really express the feeling of the show but... holy crap, it was a cool sounding song. (it can be found here by the way.) And concerning the "feeling/mood" of CCS. Well... you gotta admit that the show itself is pretty fluffy ^^; .

And concerning the "feeling/mood" of CCS. Well... you gotta admit that the show itself is pretty fluffy ^^; . Curses. I can't argue with that. To be honest (breaking my own rule about talking about the show itself) I couldn't continue watching Cardcaptors...it was a monster of the week show, and it moved so slowly, most likely because they removed any lines that furthered character development and tried to run the show on plot alone...but I still like the intro. Escaflowne huh? I thought first season Pokemon intro music was the best that came out of 4Kids and really good. Tekno Man was good for music. Voltron...heck yeah. ....[Escaflowne] disappeared pretty fast on fox kids when i saw it... i dont know why either. They showed 6 episodes before pulling it. I don't know what the final decision was for the pull, but the show was so disjointed and fast moving from the cuts I could barely keep up with it and I was probably 20 at the time. You could actually hear audio cuts in the background music as they transitioned sometimes as well. Hmm...Saturn just mentioned Robotech to me...although I liked the intro music, that's another good example of intro image fluff like CCS. Hey, she just nailed a good one! The dub Astro Boy intro is far superior to the Japanese Astro Boy intro. Do either of you guys remember Cyber Six? I realize it was Canadian and doesn't count in this conversation, but I think their intro tops alot of Japanese ones. They animated everything in that intro; steam from the coffee, people at other tables in the diner, what's going on outside, reflections in puddles...crazy expensive animation. LC

Actually, most of the music in Escaflowne wasn't where it was supposed to be, so that's not a reason for the music to be cut... Here's a good site on the edits in Escaflowne (yet another "Uncensored" site, even if it's not in name): www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/Taping/6785/esca.htmlI think this guy puts everyone else who tries to do an edit page to shame (I tried one for .hack once... until I realized that there wasn't anything cut...) As for CCS... the final link on the videos page of Carcaptors-Uncensored (http://www.cardcaptors-uncensored.com/videos.shtml) is a great parody of the CCS opening.
