Ideas for EN names of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX charas.

After looking at this list, I am trying to think of some good English-equivalent names for the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX characters. I have not watched this show; I am only doing this by the actual names and the looks of the character.

Also, names are in English order here while the page I linked to shows it in Japanese order. (E.G. Tenjyoin Asuka is Japanese order with the surname first)

* Judai Yuki

My guess is Yan Judd. Normally I would keep this guy's name, but "Juhdai" could be interpreted as "Jew die" , so to avoid clashing of sensibilities, this guy's name, in my opinion, should be changed.

* Asuka Tenjyoin

I am tempted to keep "Asuka", but Tenjoin IMO should be replaced. If Asuka is too much for the little kids, then my guess is Sarah Timmons.

* Sho Marufuji

Maybe Simon Marufuji, as Simon is a name given to smart people wearing glasses.

* Ryo Marufuji

Keep this guy's name.

* Hayato Maeda

My guess is Hyatt Michaels. Frankly I don't like the way he looks...

* Jun Banjyome

I'd change it to John Bahn.

* Daichi Misawa

Again, I'd keep his name.

But these guesses are not that educated...

After watching the opening, I must say this series seems to have quite the potential. I hope they manage to fit some non-card related things into the plot. It seems the monsters have much more personality this time around imo.

I like your name guesses quite a bit KatanaGuy, and I started to write some of my own, but, as I went down the list, I just really hoped they would be kept the same (wishful thinking).

Meh, have the fun will be seeing the randomness that comes out.

Why should the monsters have personality? They're pieces of cardboard. o.O Anyway, I would prefer it if 4Kids would keep the names identical to the Japanese version, but it's doubtful that'll ever happen. I've only seen a raw version of the first episode of Yugioh GX and since I don't know Japanese, I had no clue what was going on, but it definetly looks like something 4Kids would try to get their hands on.

If 4Kids was going to put GX on Network TV, there is no way they will keep all of the names unchanged.
