Code Lyoko??

ok, I've recently seen Code Lyoko (in spanish) on the Jetix I have over here. Now I seriously doubted it was an anime, it didn't have the 'anime look' and the 3-D scenes seemed bad to me... (so it had japanese names, pfft). But then, while searching the internet. I found Code Lyoko in all the anime sections of sites (Fanfiction.net, Gendou's Anime Music--mp3 site i recently found, whoo! but thats not the topic..).

So my question is, what the hell is it? Is it an anime? o_0 Or just another 'anime-influenced' show. If it's not, why is it in all the anime sections instead of cartoon sections? If anyone knows, comment please.


EDIT: While looking for info, I found the show stats, it said: Country: France. o_0...I'm still confused...

Its not anime but i call it franime since its a wanna be anime and it was made in france.

Yes, it's French, and not Japanese.

Techincally, anime is the Japanese's shortened term for animation. Like how Pokemon is the Japanese's shortened term for Pocket Monsters. They refer to any kind of animation as "anime", whether it's American-made, Japanese-made, French-made, or whatever. When the English-speaking world adopted the term "anime", they changed its definition to only refer to Japanese animation. So, if you go by the Japanese's definiton of what an anime is, techincally Code Lyoko could count as an anime....

But then you mentioned Resurie, that those sites have a seperate section for other styles of animation. Perhaps Code Lyoko is listed in the anime section because it's made in France and not America? Do those websites have any other foreign animated programs from countries outside Japan, and the English-speaking world listed in their cartoon section? That might explain why, but then again, it could also be because Code Lyoko has a certain Japanese style of feel to it, but it certainly isn't Japanese-made. *shrugs*

The Japanese call all forms of animation "anime", whether its One Piece of the Simpsons.

well does it matter is code lyoko is french? i mean what if there is this person that is french and draw real good anime? like real anime just like a japanese ferson? Would it still be called franime? or would it just be anime? i dont' think it matters where the aniem is produce/made, i think it only matters on how the artist draws it ne?

Since I tend to hate all these "poser animes", I will be extremely cruel to Code: Lyoko and call it "Fakime". Or "Wannabime". I know that it's not anime--it seems to much like your average American cartoon.

In Japan, "anime" refers to all cartoons - including the Simpsons and Code Lyoko

Also, the English version has name changes (e.g. Jeremie to Jeremy, Herve to Herb)
