So...I just finished watching...I guess it was a one hour sneak peak of WITCH...and "I dunno..."
I really like the background artwork and the animation style was okay (although the animation timing and looping seemed poor quality).
But the dialog...the dialog felt awkward and clumsy...like some of the old dubbed Digimon episodes...but this wasn't a dub...I really can't explain it that well other than they could've chosen better things to say, better ways to say them (tone of voice...timing against other dialog...) to keep the realism and mood of any given scene...
Okay, so now that I've finished rambling on like a confused moron, did anybody else here catch the show?

I haven't seem it yet, but I do want to check it out. I like to give even bad animes a shot. It may look retarded in the trailers, but once you watch it you may get hooked.
I didn't think much of Shaman King when it was first being hyped and look at me now! ;D

I've never seen it, but I want to. I like the character designs . I've only seen pictures, and I've never seen it in action ^^;.
What station is it on? Syndication? Cable?

I don't think I have any way of seeing it. And the fact is, I would like too. Like Lovely, I think the artstyle looks..um..nice. It looks much better than Winx, which is in some kind of rip-off war with WITCH. o_0
While looking at pictures, I read something that said something like "WITCH is a magazine manga style" XD Actually, it does kind of look...manga-ish...with the big eyes and all. It is Disney after all. And they're the ones who started the whole big eyes in cartoons thing. XD

It was the ABC affiliate for us Lovely.
I don't know Resurie...like I said, I didn't have any problems with the artwork or design...the animation quality felt like something from the late eighties or early nineties...there's a mistake at the beginning where a kid falls into water...the water splash takes forever because they slow it down to keep his speed relative...I haven't seen timing issues like that in years.
And the dialog was...awkward...it was like watching Shaman King today, and knowing what they were saying wasn't matching their facial expressions and didn't quite fit properly...it makes you cringe a little on the couch...
I felt this way watching WITCH through any segment that had the girls in it. Their interaction dialogs didn't feel right....it really took away from the realism...it didn't feel real to me...
The biggest dialog scene problem that two of you will see tomorrow is when the Grandmother explains the universe...full blown magic in front of the girls who have never seen magic before...and their dialog is very awkward about "how can this be possible, blah blah..." but the way the voice actors say it, it sounds pointless and scripted...you'll see what I mean...I can't describe it.
There are alot of good ideas in that show. It sounds like the backstory is well thought out, and they immediately set up some interesting characters like the orc jailor / rebellion spy, and the rebellion leader's friend who gets a short cameo at the beginning...but if they can't fix the jagged dialog, that loses all feeling for making that story real, it's over...

After watching what I did of the hour presentation, I have to say that it really didn't keep my attention too much. Maybe I'm just not judging it fairly. I did suffer through the entire Winx Lcub season, so any sappy "Of course we're your friends silly *tee-hee" things just grate on my nerves. The animation was pretty good, although some parts seemed to move in slow motion. Like they are trying to fit every frame they can into tha nimation. ? (what am I talking about?) Anyway, I saw what you did about the guy falling into the water in the beginning and I don't particularly care for the VA's that were given. Some are just too Winx Clubish. I do like Will's though. I think that's the only one though. Sorry, but I'm afraid unless there is nothing else on, which is very probable in my case since my wife doesn't want me to watch One Piece until she gets home from work, I will have time on my hands to catch WITCH. Maybe it will get better. Maybe I should just give it another chance. Man the Winx Club just ruins everything. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's a Digimon's moxt Wanted I need to go see. Season 2 FINALE? BYE!!!

Well, I didn't hate it but... yeah, it didn't really GRAB me. There was just too many akward moments.
First the positive. There actually were some pretty funny moments. Like in the begining when Hei lin (I think that's her name...) noticed she had powers and talks to her grandma.
Hei: This isn't one of thos "becoming a woman" things is it??
That had me laughing. Another moment where a girl runs into the "camera" was also cute. And I will always treasure the moment at the science fair in the begining when Cornelia was trying to beat up a plant XD .
The not so positive: Akward scenes and dialoug. Kaleb suffers from this the most. I rolled my eyes at a lot of his scenes and dialoug. For example, towards the begining of the episode...
Kalebs friend: Where do you think this goes... Kaleb: Jump and I'll tell you.
Kalebs line was SO unnecesarry >_< .
I dunno, they tried to make him sound like "FANTASY GUY"tm and witty but it just didn't work.
Also the scene where the grandma tells the girls about their problems and they start trying them out. I dunno, the whole scene felt akward. From their movements, to their actions... It just came off as odd. I dunno, I think they should of been more shocked or SOMETHING.
Well, that's my impresions of the show. Not bad.. but it could use a lot of work. Oh, by the way, FLOODING a pit to get people out of it struck me as a very bad idea. I mean, just imagine it.
------
Little Critter: I can't swim! Kaleb: Me either!
*show ends forever XD *

^^ Here's the W.i.t.c.h official page (for the books at least O.o) disney.go.com/witch/main.htmlIncludes freindshippy theme song! Well, anyway, I pretty much agree with you about the meh of the show. The art style just turned me off right from the beginning, because it just hardly looks anything like the original art from the comics/books. Instead I got the impression of an 80s cartoon. o.o; I guess I'll be sticking with the American books, depite how comic-deprived they are. >.>

Eh he, well, I've never actually read a full book of the series, but the art of the books/comics have a unique, Disney-esque style. The Jetix show looks kind of bland and seen before. The beginning of the books has a better beginning than the show, in my opinion. Also, I believe the original books from Italy were all-comic, whereas here in the US they have been written with comic inserts stuck in the front and back. o.o;
But I can't really say since I've never fully read one of the books, but I just think the books are more unique and more interesting than the show. I guess you'll have to read the books yorself. ^^:
