Okay, so like I watched the WITCH first episode again...and this show has so much potential, but I don't think it's going to make it...
I've decided this show is best watched with the sound turned off.
Now that I know the backstory, alot of what is said early on by the parents is good foreshadowing that I wouldn't have caught because they can't say their lines right...
Will's Mother drops her off at school and tells her to "make alot of friends today." obviously because she knows what will happen to her daughter which we the viewers don't yet...but the voice actor says it in such a way like her child is an incompetent with low self esteem that couldn't possibly make friends without bribing them with cookies...
I notice there's an abnormal amount of background detail like with Hey Lin's room to make it feel like a real teenage girl's room...I like that.
But once again, this show suffers from awkward dialogue (which now I'm pegging squarely on the voice director and the voice actors' faults) and the shoddy animation timing.
Ah yes...the animation timing! I can see that the storyboarders setup every camera angle well, on what should be shown and who should be foreground, background, etc...but whoever is translating that to the animators is dropping the ball. Ostriches collapse well after it's pointed out by the characters that they are exhausted. Camera shots linger on scenes that they should've left long ago...and Jr can backup my complaint about the infamous water splash and frame per frame timing...
Dang...it hurts to see such a mix of good ideas get thrown away by a few bad things that will ruin the entire show...
