Sanji sounded like a guy from Brooklyn with a head cold.
Apparently, everyone at Baratie are New Yorkers. And Gin too. Someone at another messageaboard was joking that Don Krieg would sound like the Godfather. Now I'm starting to think it might be true. XD

Sanji scared the crap out of me with his voice...it just...grated... *twitches* I muted the thing whenever he came on >>; Kreig..sound like the Godfather?  ; Well, that'll be interesting...xD |

I decided to watch One Piece today... Ugh. Sanji's voice... He sounds like...like...a mafia gangster on drugs... "Hey......well...uh...yeah....I'm Sonjee" Die David Moo!!!  |

Well, I think Sanji's voice is so bad (at the moment, I guess he could improve....) that I feel that 4kids should just get Wobuffet's VA to do her Wobuffet thing for Sanji every time he talks, at least then it would be funny....
On a side note, at first, I liked Zeff's dub voice, but, when it turned into a horrible theme... *groan*
Also on a side note. As far as the script went, I think the dub did a pretty good job, quite accurate as far as I remember from Shonen Jump, which is pretty accurate except when switching jokes, etc...

After watching the most recent dub ep. all I can say is:
I weep for Sanji.
Why oh why did they give him a mafia voice? @_@ A French accent would've been better than this! Just...ugh.
I'd say more, but I stopped watching about 2 minutes after Sanji showed up. His voice is that bad. *shudder*
On a side note...vintage grapejuice? I actually didn't hear what they called it, but even if I hadn't seen the original, I would've known it was wine that the Marine guy was drinking/commenting on. Come on, if you're going to cover it up, at least have him act like it's something other than wine!

It was funny when they called the "grape juice" "dry" XD. (pretty much only alchoholic drinks can be "dry".) Well, I moved past my hatred of the music a bit today and watched a bit of the episode. WOW. Sanji's voice... I mean... WOW. Yeah, I'm not watching the dub anymore  . |

Actually, I thought the grape juice thing was sort of clever. I always get a kick out of edited anime that acts like it doesn't WANT to be edited. Can anyone remember the edited Tenchi Muyo and it's incredibly powerful "tea" XD ?

The grapejuice thing is funny, but what's sad is that I don't think they were actually thinking that it was clever, they probably thought that kids really wouldn't be able to tell. But maybe not. It's just like that deal with Kaya struggling to keep the chakram with a mind of its own from slitting her throat. XD

Well, on Sat I slept in and set the VCR to tape only Sonic X and Shaman King. I missed One Piece, but I'm starting to be glad I did. Is Sanji's voice really that bad? I can't imagine any voice worse than Ussop's. Wow, I'm afraid to watch it next week... Has 4Kids reached a new low?
