I'm giving it a try, but I hate how Nick is trying to do anime now.
It looks like it shouldn't be a show, more like a movie. Would look a whole lot better like that.

Wow... this topic is old. The new search function works GREAT though . Anyhoo. I'm sick in bed today so I had a lot of time to lay around and watch t.v. And today... I just happened to come upon Nickelodeon and this show. Nick happened to be showing a sort of marathon of "Avatar: The Last Wind-Bender." With the episodes all out of order 0_o . Anyhoo.... simply put.... This... show... is... AWESOME.Is it really by the same team as Teen Titans? From what I've seen of Avatar, Avatar is most definitely the superior show (not that I'm putting TeenTitans down really ^^;.) Unlike Teen Titans (and some other anime inspired shows), Avatar doesn't overdo the visual anime cliche's. The show is a nice mix of Western and Eastern animation styles. It has action to be sure. But where a lot of shows tend to stop there, Avatar goes that extra step of having a GREAT group dynamic, humor and wonderful shades of moral gray. One of the "bad guys" Zukko is oddly likable, and actually has understandable reasons for some of his actions. Another character, a seemingly "good guy" is willing to sacrifice an entire village filled with his OWN people just so he can kill the enemies that are camped there. As you can see, this show could also get surprisingly dark. Aang is the "hero" of the story. And he's like a character taken from Shounen Jump. Only 12 years old, happy-go-lucky, hyper, but still adorably innocent. He kind of reminds me a bit of Luffy from One Piece. The siblings Katara and Sokka (pronounced "Sakka" 0_o.) have a cute dynamic together and interact well with Aang. Ah well... it's just great. If any of you get the chance, try to check the show out sometime. I would like to see it again myself. .... In order . EDIT: Here's Nick's horribly designed web page for the show. The design sucks, but the descriptions are fairly good . EDIT 2: Ah, Wikipedia has an even better page for it. Well, description wise. Oh dear... I think I'm obsessing now 0_0 ...

Double posting because it's been a while and I have new info and links. First off, the one hour season finale was shown this past week. Good stuff , can't wait 'till the DVD's and "book 2" (season 2.) Link 1- The other Avatar thread where I gush about the show and its Thanksgiving Marathon. ...And which nobody apparently watched ^^;. Ah well. Link 2- A very informative and interesting interview with the show's creators. I was just given this link yesterday and I thought I'd share .

Nyee. Glad I found this thread.
Just out of curiousity, would you all kill me if I tried writing in-character Aang angst? Because there's a dark plotbunny gnawing at me right now....
Lovely, if it weren't for your mention of that marathon I wouldn't have caught it and become hooked. Be glad you mentioned it!

I don't read fanfiction myself actually ^^;. But that's cool that Avatar has inspired you!
Also, I got someone to watch the marathon?? And now you've joined the Avatar fold?? I'm so happy!

I've only seen two episodes, but it is really good. The fight scenes are well done. Yay, a cartoon that has evident research in martial arts. My girlfriend told me it was based on shaolin. I kind of see it, but I took shaolin-do for a month. Some of it looks similar to taijutsu and capoeira.

RAAAARGH it's not on tonight because of stupid DrakeandJosh.
There's inevitably going to be a movie, and inevitably it will suck as all of Nick's movies based on TV series have. I just hope for the love of god that when it happens it's going to have the original creators involved....
