I hate to follow the crowd. More importantly, I hate the show I'm about to mention, but here goes:
Pokemon is the best dub because the changes are more subtle and less noticeable. If you have never seen the original, you wouldn't ask any questions. I bring this up because I have seen some of the other 4kids dubs without seeing the originals and I have lots of questions. Things just don't make sense in the edits. So there. Some how I feel sick. *saunters drearily away to a dark corner*

Well, it wasn't just Brock, but lots of others. I'm not exactly sure who, but I do believe they gave a boob reduction to some of the charachters. Yes, for example, episode 18 when Kojirou (James) had fake tiddies and was wearing a bikini. =D ::nods:: |

Ah yes, episode 18. God, why do all the good episodes not get released here? Damn "TV Y" rating...
And yeah, the Pokemon manga has the most editing.

Needless to say, the whole James/Kojirou in an inflatable bikini was cut. Now for a little something off topic, but I've been meaning to ask about for a while...hmm...how to ask without techincally breaking a rule..... Has anyone seen the japanese version of Pokemon, and if so, how did you come about it? |

pokemon....diffenetly funny enough i was randomly yahoo searching and i came arcoss the whole bikini thing and the whole 'shotgun' thing... *cough*
its slightly sacrelegious but i get 4kids and funimation confused all the time...

I don't really think Pokemon should count because there's nothing to really edit out of it to begin with. Then again, a lot of 4Kids edits are pointless and unneeded.

As much as I hate to admit it, Pokemon is probably there best dub. It was there first dub, and after that it seemed they had a "crap rolls down hil" effect with the rest of the anime after that.it's a shame, too. The way FUNi slowly went up, 4Kids went down at HYPER SPEED! Soo, yeah, Pokemon is the best dub. and they got my vote.l

By the way, I believe that they also edited out some stuff in the Pokemon movies, namely the first one. Mewtwo made some references to God and some stuff like that. And in the little bit about Mewtwo's origins (found in Mewtwo Returns... I advise against watching it), the bodies of the dead clones were edited out. |

It has to be Pokemon.
I think that it was the only dub I would wake up early everyday to watch on YTV since I missed it every evening. And that was are around....6am or 6:30am Mon-Fri? Hey, at least it taught me to wake up really early in the morning. *laughs*
Though I have to say, I like many of the original theme songs better. Some character themes and such are cute. (Like Advance Adventure, Ready Go!, Rival and others) The movie remixes of the dub songs are cool though. I'll admit it here, when they had reruns of the very first series and I saw the video and the song I felt very nostalgic.
You have to admit, the dub of the specials is a plus. I've rarely seen that. Like Pokemon Chronicles I think (dub of the Raikou special) and Mewtwo Returns. From what I've seen of Pokemon Chronicles, the voices aren't all that bad. Mewtwo Returns annoyed me because
As for the dub of the movies, I'd like to see those in japanese. I have the scenario book for Mewtwo Strikes Back/Pikachuu's Vacation in japanese and there were some scenes missing from the dub. I also have the movie comic for Pokemon X: Revelation Lugia and there are quite a few scenes missing from the dub I think. (Note: I've only seen up to the 3rd movie)
I don't know, I like the dubbing because it seems as if all the voice actors take a step up in the acting and sound better that and the animation is nicer. But that could be just me xD.

I also have the movie comic for Pokemon X: Revelation Lugia and there are quite a few scenes missing from the dub I think. (Note: I've only seen up to the 3rd movie) A check into Dogasu's comparison for the movie shows only one cut, and a relatively brief one. Although I say right now the writers are screwing up the show worse than 4Kids ever did. From what I've heard, they really screwed up the Groudon/Kyogre "arc" and cut short the Hoenn League for crappy filler. And they've butchered the Battle Frontier (not only is it in Kanto now, but they seem to be ignoring the rules of the facilities if the Battle Factory was any indication...). The return to Kanto had so many possibilities (letting us see people and Pokemon from the first time around, FINALLY disbanding Team Rocket like the games have done twice now, etc) and they're wasting it all for generic filler... |
