He looked kinda dumb though, like his teeth are constantly parted but there's nothing in his mouth *sighs*.

It actually surprises me that Sanji isn't suffering from chronic tooth-rot what with constantly sucking on those lollipops. ;D

I think she means by the dub intro, when they show the villians faces. Smoker's cigars were edited out.

A quick little question that's been bugging me for a while.

We all know that Zoro wears a haramaki mask on his head, when he swordfights.

Could someone explain to me what a haramaki is? I always used to think it was a bandana.

Well, I found out that a haramaki is a stomach protector used for martial arts and whatnot. So I guess that explains the green, cumberbun-like thingy around his waist.

(heres a little kanji breakdown:
hara = abdomen, belly
maki = binded, rolled up (I guess to describe somthing like a scroll maybe?))

As far as the headgear goes...I'm pretty sure thats just a bandana.

Holy crap on a stick. Today was one of the worst editing jobs I've seens so far. I'm not even going to go into the Luffy v. Arlong because I don't remember too many specifics. What's really wierd about watching this episode is that originally, the episode in which Usopp fights Chu was the same episode where Sanji fought Kurobi underwater, which happened either last week or the week before in the dub (didn't see it due to sports running), so the order of things is all messed up.
Now about Usopp's fight - they turned a totally awesome emotional situation into nothing but a joke. Seriously. For those who have watched the original - the entire part where Usopp does the "ketchup star" and all the time he's sitting there arguing with himself and trying to think up excuses, and remembering everyone saying stuff about Nami until finally he musters to courage to stand up and fight - They cut the whole thing! PLUS...they cut the USOPP HAMMER! USOPP HAMMER! Which is the one of the funniest things that happens in the whole story arc.

Oh yeah, and FIZZY SODA is not flammable. XD He broke a bottle of wine on Chu so he could set him on fire, it wasn't just a gag. I thought that part showed that he was very clever - whereas the way it turned out in the dub he looked incredibly stupid.


And I'll just quote the rest of what I said at AP regarding this (cause I dun wanna type no mo')

Well, everyone's already ranted enough on this episode, but I just want to do my typical rant of why I hate dub Usopp so much. I think this should finally prove what I've said from the very beginning - 4Kids have a completely different interpretation of his character and they're going to stick to it no matter what they have to cut. ANY serious or emotional dialogue he has had got cut. I bet they'll cut out his speech during his fight with Mr. 4 and Miss Merry Christmas too. Gee thanks, 4Kids, for removing everything about Usopp that makes him such a great character. And I still hate his dub voice. I think I wanted to strangle the guy more than even before today.

I just introduced One Piece to both my friend (who is a teenager) and his 6-year old half sister. Of course, I brought volume 3 of VIZ' series; I did not show the edited TV show to either of them.

Um...Cosmic? Sorry for asking you a favor, but can you get an uncut clip on Ussop's original fight with Chu? Because I really want to see the original if they messed it up so bad in the dub. Secretofmana - Yes, I was planning on doing that. I can't today, though, I'm about to leave for a long shift at work.

I also just noticed that they cut the part where Luffy grabs a hold of Zoro as he was flying up through the air and flings him in the other direction and says "SWITCH!"

The also cut out a lot of Zoro's fight with Arlong...unless they had it in a previous episode. And with that, the part where Usopp comes back and shoots an egg at Arlong and says "I'm here to back you up Zoro!"
And Johnny and Yosaku are like, "How brave! Fighting without fear!" and Usopp says "Yes! I fight without fear!" and they show him staning behind the hole in the wall and they all say "WHY ARE YOU OVER THERE!?" And Usopp tells Nami that he finished off Chu, and the mermen are nothing,etc. which really pisses off Arlong (because Chu is his bitch ) and of course, "My appearance signals the climax of this battle! Get ready for the big finale!" And then he tries to shoot the rubberband at Arlong, but Hatchi falls for it instead....and Usopp says "I meant to shoot at him!" and Nami says "but you said ARLONG!" ;D

I guess they could move some of that to another episode, but since the next episode is the last of the Arlong arc, I kind of doubt it, looks like they'll just finish it off really quick...jeez, do they even get to celebrate?
