Stolen verbatim from Animation World Magazine...I will finally be able to watch this series uncut...and past the half dozen episodes that were shown on TV before it was pulled...stupid Warner Bros... news.awn.com/index.php?ltype=top&newsitem_no=13487New Astro Boy Blasts Off on DVD March 29, 2005 Osamu Tezuka’s groundbreaking ASTRO BOY was updated by Sony in 2003, with some episodes airing last year on Kids WB! and Cartoon Network. Now the 2 1/2D cartoon series comes to DVD on March 29, 2005 (Columbia TriStar Home Ent., $49.95) with all 50 episodes in a five-disc set. Time has finally caught up with ASTRO BOY (whose birth date is April 7, 2003), which tells the story of a young robot modeled after the son of a research scientist, who becomes a reluctant superhero striving to bring humans and robots together. The new series preserves the original manga drawing style, particularly the outsized eyes and pickle nose. The DVD is dubbed and features a short “Remaking” doc. EDIT: Maybe I won't be getting this...it sounds like it's the actual daytime dub and cut...and there's no japanese language track says Amazon...now I've got nothing against the english cast, but the script they used for the cut was horrible...

Even if it's just the dubbed version, at least Astro Boy is available on DVD now, so I can finally watch the rest of it. I watched it when it was aired on the Kid's WB and then started watching it when it moved to CN, but I don't know if they either took it off the air or just moved it to another timeslot because it suddenly wasn't on Toonami anymore, so I never got to see the end of it. But hopefully, we'll get an uncut DVD release of it one day.

Did you pick it up Takato?
I had it in my hands at Best Buy and walked around with it for 10 minutes before I saw the second season box set of Batman:tAS and I decided I didn't want to purchase both...
Geez...I don't know...even 1 dollar per episode sounds harsh since I remember the Sony English dub being really awkward...and I didn't like how they re-wrote Atlas' origin...you lose alot of depth to the character...
Grahh...I'm going to hold off and read some more reviews on it first...what if they've completely re-written the end episode scripts too and neutered them?

I haven't bought it yet. I probably won't be able to buy something at even this price until Christmas, unless I can find it at the stores at a really cheap price, like marked down to $30 or something. I might be tempted to pick this up, but chances are if I do buy it, they'll probably just wind up releasing an uncut version later, so I will have ended up wasting my money, so I'm debating on whether or not I should buy it.
