I don't know if there's already a thread about Megas XLR, but if there isn't, what does everybody think about it? I don't have cable, so I've only seen like two full episodes, but from what I have seen, I like it alot. I've read a lot of episode reviews on line too. (like what I did for Invader Zim before they started releasing DVDs.) Speaking of which, there is a rumer I've heard about Megas XLR DVDs. Is it true? Anything any one says about Megas XLR will be helpful to me. ;D
Yay! First Thread I've created!
Yay, post number VIII! Fausto! Faust!

It isnt really my kind of show, but the episodes I have seen are pretty well done. The voice acting is believeable, and the plot is sound. It just doesnt draw me.... The character designs for the villians are great though.
Im just not big on robots without...personality...
The theme song rocks though....Pretty upbeat and funny...

Yeah, I love Megas XLR. It's basically a satire on all kind of things, mostly a lot of 80's anime. It's not to be taken serious. It's a very funny show.

It's Americanime (my own word), which technically I'm oppsed to, but still... DAMN, IT'S FRIGGIN' AWESOME! And I too don't have cable, so I await the DVDs. And wasn't the name "Low Brow" in the pilot?

I don't see it trying to copy anime at all. The whole style of the show more more typical American than anything else. It just spoofs a lot of old anime shows. Also, I personally don't care if an american show is influenced by anime. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, after all. Not to mention that they style that we see as anime today originated from Japanese artists who were influenced by American animation. It's just coming full circle.

I was never into the whole giant mecha thing and personally after watching an ep of the new Transformers series I was even more sceptical, but damn this show is GOOD ;D I just love Coop's wisecracks Kiva's sarcasm and character and Jamie just cos he's Jamie. This is one (if not the only) mecha series that gets the thumbs up in my book.

Yaaay! People respond! ;D I like Coop and Jamie, too. I think that Coop's my favorite character, though. I liked the original Transformers series, where they were aliens who could turn into Earth animals and...robots... The one with Ratrap and Cheetor. I don't really remember much of the Megas theme-song, but I remember that when I first saw it (at a neighbor's house) I was like "... dude." I was instantly hooked. It was the car-show episode. 'The Fat and the Furious' I believe it was called. There was cheese in a can in the first sceen. Woot. And yes, I have read numerous internet sources that say the pilot was Lowbrow, and it was in some sort of contest to decide what show would be picked up by Cartoon Network. It lost, but was picked up anyway. (or so I have read.) I think I also heard a rumor that Megas might have been going to be dropped soon. (ooooh, something is so wrong with that sentance...) Does anyone know if this is true? Or when/if the DVDs are coming out? Remeber, I'm not even sure if I read about the cancelation. It could have been for something else. Thank you to all who have and may in the future respond!

Beast Wars wasn't the original Transformers series. It was the second. The original one came out in the 80's. I don't know if they're going to make more episodes of Megas or not. I don't really care if they do or don't...as much as I like the show, I think it probably has run it's course. But they could always kick it up a notch.

Yeah, Megas XLR has got to be one of my favorite American TV shows. I don't really think it copies anime, only a little in the eyes but that's it. I really enjoy the humour in it and the characters aren't that stereotyped...well, exept in the spoofs.

>_>;; I haven't seen it... It sucks to live in the Netherlands some times. From what you've all said, it sounds like a good show. I only loved the Gundam Wing kind of mecha. (Damn I loved that anime! ) But then again, I haven't seen that much series with mecha in it. =/

I think that XLR stands for 'Extra Large Robot.' I don't have much experience in mecha shows, Megas and Beast Wars are probably the closest things I've seen to it. (thanks for the Beast Wars history lesson, by the way! I didn't know it was around back then... I'm guessing that the original wasn't computer animated?) Are they still showing reruns of Megas, if not new eppisodes? (maybe I can get a neighbor or family member to tape an eppi. or two for me...)

Megas is a great series. I love when the spoofed they Power Rangers and Sailor Moon. They also had an ep with Transformer-esque robots. And this from someone who hates comedies.
You've got to see the Harlock ep! There's this space pirate who gets on a crush on Kiva. It turns out he gets a crush on any red heads he sees. In the ending credits of the show, you can see a picture of this guy with red hair he liked. Also, Kiva does one of Coop's rants.
Very good ep. I miss this show.
