This is a show that recently appeared on Adult Swim about 2 nights ago. Anyone take a look at it?
It's pretty much about the misadventures of a little named Shinnosuke Nohara (otherwise known as "Shin" or "Shin-chan") doing everything to annoy his parents, teachers, and almost everyone around him. Well, thats what I guess I could say if I were to determine a plot.
It's a popular show in Japan, and the best way to think of it is like a Japanese version of Family Guy. Its actually a really funny show from what I've seen, and while the original version had a alot of crude humor in it, FUNimation had supposedly took it a step futher and actually made it a little more "mature" than it's predecessor.
It's receiving a test-run on Adult Swim right now, anyone who's interested oughta check it out at midnight tonight. (Or 12:30, one or the other...)

Hmmm. Years ago, in the UK Fox Kids aired Shin Chan. It wasn't that mature themed. It aired in the middle of the day at least. Perhaps this is an updated version.

I thought that was just a kids' show. Which age group did the Japanese make it for?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that there WAS another dub by Phuuz (Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo) before the FUNimation one that's currently showing on Adult Swim, however it was only shown in Europe and was toned down and like Ryu said, was on Fox Kids. More info about it in the Wikipedia article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin-chan

Oooold show. I watch it sometimes at night on the anime channel here. If I have nothing better to do. It's funny sometimes-- but other times I just don't know what they're talking about. 8| Spanish = lame.

I'm not sure EXACTLY what that page is calling the "Milk-chan Debacle," but I do know a little.
ADV made TWO versions of milkchan, a strict translation of the show, and a wacked out version. Now a LOT of people really like the "wacked out" dub. Which is apparently hillarious and insane, and even has live action clips of the VA's being insane as well sometimes. (this is just what I've heard mind you, I've never seen this dub myself.) The accurate translation of the show however is oftentimes just... weird. And not in a funny way. Really, I found it incredibly boring, and apparently so does the majority of anime vewiers.
Now, Guess which version Adult Swim decided to air?
Yep, for unknown reasons, AS decided to show the accurate, boring dub. It tanked.
And that's pretty much the story. The thing that throws me off in that article is that AS is implying that they bought the rights to the show 0_o ? I never heard of that before (it's an ADV show as far as I know,) but, if it's true, why in HECK did they show the boring version? Ah, one of life's endless mysteries~ *puts on shades and sips some lemonaid*.
EDIT: Woops, forgot to mention. I was chatting with Tonfa the other night and he reminded me Shin-chan was on. FUNNY STUFF. And I only caught half an episode! Kind of wrong... and a little spastic, but funny none-the-less.
The mom trying to catch her youngest child (not Shin): COME BACK HERE! You're supposed to be the one we DON'T regret having!
XD . And that was one of the tamer lines...

I've watched Crayon Shin-chan... and well I found it to be pretty interesting *sweatdrop*. I wasn't able to pick up some on some of the jokes, but I found the show to be pretty funny. I also found the ending theme to be pretty cute.

I saw that episode in which you quoted in your signature. That show is random and awesome. But not made of as much awesome and win as Snakes on a Plane.

To be a man you must have honor! Honor and a peeeeeniiiiiis
I remember watching a huge hunk this show awhile back when I was in my "Download and watch every single animu out there" phase-Hillarious, I don't remember an episode where I didn't laugh. : >
As for the AS showing, I think it's just as good in english, if not better. My only complaint is that it seemed to have started in the middle of the actual series (unless they're just showing random episodes). If you don't take your anime viewing too seriously (ie you say "WELL I DO BELIEVE THIS ASPECT OF IT BOTHERED ME AND THEY COULD'VE.." after watching an episode of Hamtaro) and can handle a bit of kinda-raunchy humor, I think everyone should watch it. o:
Pewee's Playhouse followed by Shin-chan = Ultimate Win. Thank you, Adult Swim!
