Man, everyone keeps associating JYB with ONLY Eureka 7. For the love of God, the man has a good range! Renton is only ONE of the voices that he does. Go back and watch Trigun (Vash the Stampede), Akira (Kaneda), and even Wolf's Rain (Kiba) for that matter. Yeah, I know of all the other voices, I just said the E7 thing because I just found out that night... His voice is awesome, but we'll see. I don't see it fitting Ichigo, but like I said, I trust Viz's decision, especially after their choices for Naruto.

Actually, after thinking about it JYB might actually be good for Ichigo. I'm basing this on his Vash the Stampede. The japanese voice actor makes Ichigo sound much older. Almost a hard-ass in a way. Bosch can pull off a 15 year old.

You know, you are right there, but Ichigo is pretty much a hard-ass, but I find it still fitting. Vash's japanese VA really didn't work IMO. Again, I trust Viz's decisions.

I said it at AN, I'll say it here: DSP canNOT pull off Ishida. He doesn't have the ability to play a convincing mature role. If anything, Joshua Seth on sedatives would do a better job (and if no one knows what I'm talking about, I'll shoot you).

Yes, but it's still better for Ishida than DSP. He's supposed to sound like a mature high-schooler... As much as I love chaos, chaos did NOT sound like a mature high-schooler in Xeno1. And none of his other roles have, either.

I saw the commercial for the dub a few days ago on Adult Swim :3 I've just started getting into Bleach so I was pretty excited :3 Ichigo and Rukia sounded pret-ty good in my opinion(as they were basically the only ones who spoke) XD

Derek's been doing a pretty good job as Shino in Naruto lately. At first, he sounded a bit too much "like himself" if that makes any sense, but in his battle episode I think he pulled off being serious, and, actually ended up sounding fairly unique. Keep in mind voice actors are usually professional. If the director has enough drive, many of them can do voices beyond what we normally here. For instance, although Dan Green is known for his... "staple" voice, (Yami, Knuckles, etc) he does do Yugi's voice as well, which, may be a bit forced but it still shows range. And when he did Knuckles in Shadow the Hedgehog, he did sound slightly better than he did in the cartoon in my opinion. And in that same game, Sonic and Shadow were leaps and bounds above their Sonic X incarnations, again, in my opinion. XD;;; I know some actors do have a more limited range, and vocal type, but I think people should wait to see what the actors and voice directors can pull off. Being in Canada I saw the Bleach dub last night. Suppose I'll post some general thoughts since, well, I like Bleach and it was an exciting experience. In general, the voices suffer quite a lot from "first episode syndrome." All of them need time to get used to their roles, mainly Rukia I think. Her voice was lovely, and I think they chose a great actor for the role... but she lacked all emotion. Rukia's voice was way too cold in my opinion. She's not the most emotional person, but she's missing something. She'll get more into it I'm sure, but it was just kind of odd, especially in the drawing scene. I think lots of people will disagree, but I thought Ichigo's voice fit him perfectly. He needs some adapting, but it won't take long I think. Judging from his argument with his father, I think by the time he'll be arguing with Renji, the actor will fit right in. Speaking of that, Ichigo's dad was fairly awesome in my opinion. I think he was the best cast of the bunch! XD His sisters are minor characters, and I was mixed about them throughout the episode anyways. The last character we heard (besides background characters) was Kon, who was only in the next episode preview..... I'm worried quite frankly. He could have sounded so much better.... again, I just hope he warms up to the role. As for the translation, (which I care about least actually) I didn't sense anything weird about it. It seemed fairly accurate. I wasn't aware Ichigo's father knew that he could see ghosts when I watched the original, but apparently he did, so that's nothing there.... There were a couple... "meh" looking text edits for signs, but nothing really bad. There were a couple instances of "Americanisms" if I recall, but, again, nothing frequent or really very noticeable. Now back to the floorboards.

Well, I just saw it, and I like it, a LOT!
I pretty much agree with everything that Vasuki said concerning the first episode. JYB makes a perfect Ichigo. All of the voices were really good. Although some of the deliivery did sound a little stiff in a few places. But then again, it was the same case with Naruto. I believe the dub will get even better with progression.
As far as translations go, everything seemed really fine. I've read a few posts from other places that complain about the translation, but I think its really more of writing thing, and I wasn't counting on them using certain words like "shinigami" in the first place.
Kon....seemed a little off in the next episode preview...hopefully his actual appearance will be better. (In general though, he ain't exactly my favorite comic releif in the world of anime.)
Overall, it was awesome stuff. The BLEACHers need to shut the f**k up....badly.

Ahahaha... I missed the episode for the most part. I chose to watch the end of Xenosaga 3 instead (which I was in the middle of playing at the time.) Well, I've seen episode one of Bleach before (the only episode I've seen actually,) so I guess it doesn't really matter. I'm sure it'll be re-run someday... Anyhoo, I'll make sure to catch it next week.
I did catch a minute or so, and It sounded good.

My cable died out last night, so I didn't get to see it on Adult Swim. I managed to find it on YouTube, though. In my opinion, it was pretty damn good. All of the voices were near perfect in my opinion. I didnt think there was anything wrong with Rukia's voice at all. She did sound a bit old to me, but she sounded like that in the original as well. So nothing wrong there. Kon's voice wasn't HORRIBLE either. It could have been better, but it wasn't anything to throw a fit over. My favorite of the voice had to either be Ichigo's dad or Yuzu. Both were great in my opinion. And again, this was only the first episode. The voices aren't going to get worse, they're going to get better. The translation seemed fine to me. There was nothing that seemed weird or anything... Then again, I'm not exactly the biggest Bleach fan in the world, so I guess I wouldn't know either way. ; In conclusion, it seemed pretty good to me. I agree with Tonfa when I say that all the purists need to stop whining and deal with the dub. If you don't like it, don't watch it. D:

I recorded it and watched it today. I'm a bit pissed at them translating shinigami as "soul reaper" (death god is the best translation, but they should've left it as shinigami... even guardian of death is better), and I feel that Johnny Young Bosch sounds too nice. Otherwise it was fine.
Lovely- You beat it?
