Hell yeah you should be able to! >< I'm in a catholic school and we're allowed to watch any movies we like (as long as they have to do with something we're studying...XD).
*cough* Wait wait, don't they show you those videos teaching you about puberty in middle school? >_O If so, then why not PG/PG-13 movies? o_0 ....
They showed us two movies about abortion in Religion, with...*cough* a lot of visual examples in it...>_> They even showed it to the boys (whom exaggerated the second one freaking most of the girls out when it turns out the first one was worse...).
Yeah...no one needed to know that...
Right...I should stop. I'm saying too much...don't listen to me. ^^;; I'm wording things strangely again...-__-

ya, they show "The Passion of the Christ" in a Catholic Middle School (or was it elementary?)...so i think it's all good (even though the teacher who showed that bootleg Passion was prosecuted)

Oh yeah, our school made the entire highschool go to the movies and watch it. o_0 Everyone cried...but I didn't... Yeah...it was all fun...except at the end when the bus left our class and we had to wait for it to go to school and come back. T_T

I don't see what the big deal would be to show middle school kids PG and PG13-rated movies. Most kids at that age are old enough to watch PG13 movies by then and definetily PG rated movies. I don't think R-rated movies should be shown to middle school kids, though. But I remember one time in high school we weren't doing anything one day in biology class, so my teacher brought in the movie Pyscho for us to watch and thought it was rated PG13 even though it was actually rated R, so we got to watch an R-rated movie during class even though it was against the school rules to. ^^;;

We usually are allowed to watch a certain rating of video/DVD at school, depending on the teacher and rating... However, we usually end up watching "The Simpsons", which gets VEEEEERY boring after a while... Especially when we all watch the same ones...

We watch R rated movies (high school and middle school) at my school, no matter the class, no matter the relevance... But they aren't "educational."

my art teacher let us watch the Cowboy Beebop movie, which is rated R... but it was anime, so it was art related.
most of the best movies are PG and above...

You have the coolest art teacher!!!I would love to watch that in art class,but I don't think we could.I also go to a catholic school too and we're trying to watch Passion of the Christ in Theology but our periods are only 50 mintues long so we have to figure out how we're going to see the whole movie.But we should!We should be mature enough to watch that kinda of stuff at our homes so why shouldn't we watch it at school?

Basically, because they don't wanna get in trouble for showing a child something they might get nightmares, trauma, etc. over. Although, my schools have done that before anyway...
