This has been swirling in my mind for who knows how long.
If you make a thred, that has already been done, you get scolded, and your thred is then locked.
But what if that thred that already had existed was very old, and dead?
You also get scolded at for necro-posting.
:gonk:
then what do you do?! what if you just thaught of a comment,or didnt know, because it was two pages back?!

I'd say that it depends on how old the thread is (more than 8 months sound like a reasonable amount of time before a new thread to me), and as far as necro-posting goes, as long as something significant to the topic and not something along the lines of: "OMG [x] is teh kewl!!! LOL!!!1111 r0xors!!!" ..or any kinda one liner stuff like that. Actually, this sort of issue was addressed in a recently made Zelda thread. The old one was about a year old anyway. But those are just my thoughts, I guess its entirely up to the mods for this sort of thing.

It's perfectly fine to bump up an old thread. BUT, your reply must be something that contributes to that thread, if you're just going to reply to agree with someone's comment, or just say one-sentence opinion, you're better off not replying at all.
It's best if you write a long reply, one that actually contributes, add something new, don't just reply with something you know isn't going to get any replies from anyone else.
Oh, and we've mentioned this same matter countless times, I don't see how you could have not known, Ankari.

Something else I wanted to mention. ESPECIALLY for the video game topics. A lot of the threads we have in the video game forum aren't specific game, but series specific. However! If a new game comes out in said series, and the old thread is a few pages or so long, it's PERFECTLY acceptable to start a new specific game thread.
Of course, try to keep the new game thread on the topic of the NEW game.
And yes, as Res said, bumping up old threads is fine as long as something new is contributed. This may seem like common sense, but we have had a LOT of people bump up old threads with just.
"lol I so agree!"
Just to get thier post count up (I guess.) It makes us sad to lock those threads, but we don't have a choice at that point.
