The only reason I hated Oil Ocean so much was because I constantly fell in the oil. Such a huge pain to get out of!
Also, Metropolis was a maze and I forgot it was 3 Acts long. No wonder I cursed it's name everytime I got there! ;D

Yeah Metropolis Zone. I remember thinking, "Act 3 is back...with a vengeance!" I always hated those square platforms above the lava with the spears that popped out of them. It's not like all of them followed the same pattern, oh no, they all had to throw out spears at different times. While I tried to figure out where the spears were gonna pop up next, DIIIING!, Sonic got a spear up his butt and fell into the lava below. I also remember that zone had the most irritating enemies ever. Anyone remember those praying mantis bots that shot off the blades on their forelegs? Or those damn kamikaze starfish bots that exploded in a shower of spikes when you got too close? Everything in that Zone was harmful. They should have named it "Sharp Painful Object Lava Zone" If I were Sonic, I would have retired after Metropolis Zone.

i cheat at the end of oil ocean. i go under the platforms in the oil and keep jumping until robotnik surfaces and then i strike.
3 acts was way to much for a 2 act game. and not to mention robotnik is tough to beat. i mean it's possible, but...wait let me rephrase that...he's ANOYING at the end.
here is another fun survey thing, faveorite music for each game
sonic 1: marble zone (i have a story to tell about it after)
sonic 2: aquatic ruin
sonic 3: ice cap
sonic and knuckles: lava reef zone
i also do love flying battery, hence the name of my website. but lava reef stick out to me more. anyways back in the day when sonic 1 was new. my sister said that 2 songs on there sounded like songs irl.
marble zone: something by micheal jackson
spring yard zone: something by paula abdual

Ooh, you're right! The 2 player mine music was cool. It sounded very classical to me. It reminds me of home.
Sonic games have some great music. *Is currently listening to Tikal's theme*
Has anyone played Sonic Battle for the Gameboy Advance? It's one of the greatest games for GBA. It does have a lot of continuity errors, but it's an excellent game!

Sonic 2: Chemical Plant Zone act 2. Stupid...rising...purple...water...in my most recent run, I got past that one part with the moving cubes in the narrow...what do you call something that's like a hallway but goes up and down?... with the purple liquid rising RIGHT BELOW YOU, and...fell down to the bottom shortly afterward. ARGH! *tremble tremble* ... Sorry! I know I'm bumping up this topic! Please don't kill me! I couldn't resist!! XD That Chemical Plant bit you refer to- I can do that bit without ever touching the purple liquid. ;D As for Metropolis Zone... That level has some of the MOST LETHAL BADNIKS from any Sonic game Ever.... Oh, and Carnival Night 2- Lemme guess... the rotating drums? XD Sega forgot to mention them in the instruction manual, and EVERYBODY got stuck. XD XD You just had to press up and down rhythmically... On an interesting point, did anyone ever manage to do the Sonic 3 Level select (up, up, down, down, up, up, up, up at 'SEGA' logo)? That was HELL. You needed perfect timing. I did it a few time years ago, and haven't been able to since. XD Oh yeah! Sonic fact time! *is shot for obsessive rant* 19, 65, 09, 17. The Sonic 2 Level Select code. Also Yuji Naka's birthday. (17-09-1965) 1,9,9,2,1,1,2,4. The Sonic 2 Debut cheat. Also the game's release date. ;D Anyone heard 'SWEET SWEET SWEET'? I heard the song recently. I loved that BGM in Sonic 2. *Want more Dreams Come True music* I heard they did a Song like Star Light zone...

i already knew the sonic 2 level select, but i didn't know that it was a birthday! thats really neat. you can do the sonic 3 level select within angel island zone. this one does work because my friend did it. im not sure what the pattern was, but it's online somewhere.
i never heard of sweet sweet sweet, is it old or new?

The level select you say only works with Sonic 3 and Knucles. You have to grab onto a swing and press Left, Left, Left, Right, Right, Right, Up, Up, Up. ^^
But, to do the level select on standalone Sonic 3 is HELL. XD
'SWEET SWEET SWEET' was sung in 1992 by a Japanese band called Dreams Come True.
Dreams Come True composed all the music for Sonic 1 and Sonic 2. However, after that they became MEGA popular in Japan, and Sega couldn't afford to pay what they wanted anymore. ><
'SWEET SWEET SWEET' was played during the final scene of Sonic 2 (falling from the Death Egg). The song was sung by the same band in both English and Japanese (the English title for the song being 'Sweet Dream'.
If you ever hear the song (I can send it to any interested, if you want ^^), you will recognise and love it. ^^
