Has anyone ever played RPG Maker (the one for PS1). I think it rules. I wanted to know if anyone was making any games ( I am making a Super Mario RPG remake exept alot different) and if they knew about how to MAKE IT SO WHEN YOU MAKE AN AREA HAVE AN EVENT, AND AFTER THE EVENT HAPPENS, HOW DO YOU MAKE THE EVENT STOP WORKING SO EVERYTIME I STEP ON THE SPOT IT WONT ALWAYS DO IT. AND STUPID GOBLI DOESN'T MAKE SENSE BECAUSE IT CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE!!! Anyway if anyone knows how to solve my problems please tell me...

ya, i heard of RPG maker, and i think it's an original idea...trouble is, i'd rather play RPG's than make them without getting paid, lol. I don't think i would enjoy playing a game that i made myself (and as a decent computer programmer, i know how it feels). but that's just my opinion, i guess RPG maker is the only way some people can make their own games, and they have fun in just that. And if they like the experience, they may have just found themselves a career (it's a SONY conspiracy!! shhh!!)
from what i've heard though, the controls and what you can actually create are quite limited.

Everything is very hard to figure out.. And making the game isn't really THAT fun, but the satisfaction of playing a game YOU made when it's completed is definatley worth all the hard work. REALLY hard work..... 100s of hours of hard work!!!

I had a program like that a while ago and it started out fun until I realized how little I know about programming. Maybe now that I have taken some C++ and Java, I could give it another shot, but alas I don't have the program anymore and I can't remember where I got it. I did see that RPG maker for the PS2 but it was way too expensive for my tastes and now I can't seem to find it anywhere in my area. Guess it wasn't meant to be!!

I own RPG maker for the PS1. I could never figure out the system very well and I had neither a keyboard nor a mouse so it was just an excercise in tedium.
I wouldn't mind making up an RPG story, but I didn't like having to make an RPG battle system and specs as well .
In other words.... I gave up ^^; .

I have this game, I've made a few games with this... but I always end up getting bored never finish anything ( >_< )
Now, as far as getting an event to stop, here's a little guide starting with when you first make an event.
1. pick where u want the event to happen, make it yadda, yadda, yadda.
2. after you put all the actions you want into an event, select an action called "switch" (on the same screen where you would select actions like displaying messages)
3. Pick any switch number (it can be from 0-500) an select "switch on" (or whatever its like, been a while since I played it) this is the LAST action you want on your event.
4. Go back a screen, and add a new page to your event (I think you press triangle at this screen or something and select add page (front))
5. Go over to that page by pressing right or left.
6. Now, go under the caption of "Page Conditions" select it, and look for a "switch" condition.
7. Select this condition to whatever number your switch on the last page was and set it to on. And don't punch in any other actions.
Thats it, update your event, and now when you test it, it should happen only once. The switches are what triggers events to happen or not. Once you figure that out, making games with RPG Maker is a cakewalk.
let me know if this helped...(^_^)
