The Video Game section seems to be ignored so I figured I might as well start something new:
So I was busy with some school stuff one day and then decided that I would do it later, like I usually do. (^ _ ^)
Well, I was looking through some of my old SNES games and came across Mortal Kombat 2. I thought, "Hey, haven't played this in a while" and was kinda wanting to after watching an episode of "Icons" on G4TV that was about Mortal Kombat.
Well I think that MK2 is probobaly one of the best games in existance. I mean, the whole concept is kind of a joke (There was an interview with the creator in which he SAID the the whole 'Kombat' instead of 'Combat' was meant to be a joke)
But how can you not decapitate someone, cut them in half, impale them, or make them combust from the inside out and not say that the game kicks ass?
Well, I decided to devote this thread to any of the Mortal Kombat games
Best character: Sub-Zero
Best Finishing Move: Ripping your oppenets head off with the spine in tact
Character I hate the most: Motaro
WTF?: that guy who pops up occasionaly yelling "TOASTY~~" whenever you uppercut your opponent

i like the unmasked subzero! also, rayden and scorpion are awsome!
i love the TOASTY! guy. OH have you ever seen the friendshipality's? those are hillarious!

Favorite Move: Don't have one
Most Hated Character: It's a tie, Mileen and Kitana
ITA. Sub-Zero is far better though.
I love the toasty guy too.
I remember once the computer kicked my @$$. It played as Jonny Cage and he kicked my Sub Zero in the ceiling to be skewered by the spikes. Lol.
I just wished I had the manual though. It had character bios and it was so awesome.

Back in the day, when Mortal Kombat first came out, I was afraid of it. Mostly because I REALLY dislike graphic violence. But one day, I actually saw the game in action. A simple weak punch caused a spray of blood to erupt! My fear of the game left me at that point. I just kept on getting visions of what would happen to these people if they got a paper cut *dies laughing at the mental imagery*.
Kind of unrelated, but I really, REALLY loved the first Mortal Kombat movie. *siiiiiiigh* Johny Cage.......

I loved the movies too. But of course, I am a diehard Sub-Zero fan.
You had a strange fear, Lovely. Though it's not the strangest I've heard of. That would go to a phobia of your own fears.

Yeah, the first movie was pretty awsome. Although I somehow wish they could have worked in the "TOASTY" guy somehow.
Then the second one came out it and sucked tremendously to a point of laughter. Oh my God! They killed Johnny! Those bastards!
But the animated show back in the day really made my saturday mornings. Anyone ever see that? Back before 4kids and their Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, mindless martial arts action based on a really violent video game. Yes, those were the days...

and it would be great if toasty! was in the movies. and i agree the 2nd one sucked cuz it was like

Sorry. I never did or do care for Mortal Kombat. I do like how many different moves you can do. But I have to say that they went too far with the gore. Like Lovely's thoughts about paper cuts XD, I think they exxagerated too much.
I don't have a problem with gore, I just think it should be done well and not over the top.

I actually like the second one better than the first.
But I remember the cartoon. Love it. Anyone remember the horrible live action show that aired on the WB?

Wasn't that actually co-produced by Disney?  Or one of the companies within that empire? Because I do remember some sort of a Mortal Kombat behind-the-scenes esque attraction at the Disney/MGM Studios (Disney World, Florida) some time ago, never actually saw it though. But I never saw the show [live action] I maybe saw one commercial for it, but I bet it DID suck. |
