All was quiet in Patch Village as Anis, the Arabian belle, prepared herself for bed. The birds had ceased chirping, the wind had quit blowing through the desert air, and no sound of any Shaman Fights could be heard. It was a very peaceful evening when no one could possibly be restless...right? Wrong.
Anis herself was dreadfully restless. There may have been a general hushed aura outside, but billions and billions of questions were screaming inside of her mind. Team Arabia had just been eliminated from the Shaman Fight after they had lost to Funbari Onsen, but that wasn’t what was bothering her. She was concerned about her fiancée. Was Harlem really redeemed from his old self?
He said he would love to marry her out of his own free will and had grown a bit more tender toward her. There were no slaps to the face and would nod in acknowledgement towards her once in a while…yet…he was still so bitter and would not hear of her dream to make a paradise for all oryx to live in.
I can not blame him for being bitter, she thought, He’s always wanted more than the harsh life he lived through. I just... wish he wouldn't push me away so much!
She forced herself to lie down and relax, but doubts still plagued her. When did her fiancée drift away? Why couldn’t he give her real love and respect?
That man from Team Funbari Onsen, Ryu, had treated her like a lady. He understood her goals. He even flirted with her. Anis knew she shouldn’t have felt flattered when he did so, but she did.
“Ryu-san would have helped me. He was terribly kind to me despite his loud and charismatic nature…and even a bit wise when he wanted to be,” she murmured drowsily. It was true. She and the peculiar Japanese man were so similar in wanting, no, needing a sanctuary of their own for inner peace. After she met him, after their teams clashed…she grew…confident. She wondered where Ryu was tonight.
“I…do miss him. He was such a nice person,” she whispered, drifting off to sleep.

FOOM! The pretty shaman bolted awake to a loud noise. It sounded as though a volcano was erupting and it felt so warm!
“Wh-What on Earth…?” she stuttered. She looked out her window and gasped. The sky was a spectacular orange and a great fire blazed in the middle.
“Oh…Oh my!” She dashed outside to see more, only to find an empty street.
“Didn’t anyone else notice this? What if the fire burnt them all up?” she wondered aloud.
FOOM! The fire exploded into the sky, a huge orange cloud was produced, and the ground trembled beneath her. She screamed in fright and fell down.
“It’s alright, Anis,” spoke a deep voice.
“Who…Ryu-san! What’s going on? Are you alright? Where is everyone?” She was shaking with worry, but Ryu was perfectly calm.
“Everyone is fine. That fire back there is coming from me,” he explained.
Anis paled and stood up.
“How?” was all she could say.
He sighed, struck a melodramatic pose, and began a rather theatrical speech, “My Anis-chan, can’t you tell? I have cherished you from the instant I saw you. You are the light of my life, my desert rose, the most precious jewel of my heart! That giant fire is one of passion my darling, and I am here to beg you to return my affections.”
Ooookayyy…this was an awkward position.
“I really am flattered…but I am also engaged,” she replied sweatdropping and blushing slightly at the same time.
Ryu grew serious. “Do you love your fiancée?” he asked.
“What!” she cried, taken aback. How rude of him to be so blunt!
“I can tell you aren’t meant for him. He’ll never give you the time of day,” he continued.
I can see that you’ve been crying.
You can’t hide it with a lie.
What’s the use in you denying
that what you have is wrong?
“Harlem cares for me a great deal! W-Why, if it weren’t for him I would have never have been able to get into the Shaman Fight to make my wish come true,” she insisted.
“If I’m not mistaken,” Ryu began, “that guy called your wish stupid.” The colossal bonfire roared on the horizon like a ferocious lion. The brunette paused. As much as she hated to admit it, the bokuto wielding man was right.
“He’s been a little nicer to me as of late…” she murmured. Her feet shuffled against the ground uneasily.
“You still haven’t answered my question. Do you really love that jerk? Tell me the truth,” Ryu said in a gentle yet firm tone.
Anis felt a little chill run down her spine. Ryu’s voice was so comforting and tender. She liked it a lot. Should she like it? It felt right too. Good gracious, she didn’t know what to say!
I heard him promise you forever
but forever’s come and gone.
Baby, he would say whatever
it takes to keep you blind
to the truth between the lines.
“I don’t think you can love him. Scratch that; I know you can’t. I heard you tell him that you hated your arranged marriage with him,” Ryu went on.
“That was because I wanted to choose him for myself,” she said.
“Would you?” he questioned.
Again, she was silent. Ryu took out a comb from seemingly nowhere, fixed his hair up, and gave her a flirty grin. Anis had to giggle a little. Even when he wasn’t trying to make someone happy, he just could! Ryu really had a magnetic personality.
“You have one sexy smile, Anis-chan. You know, if you let me be your man I’d make you smile all day. I’d give you diamonds, fancy clothes, and steamy kisses,” he told her with a wink. She blushed furiously.
Oh, I will love you more than that.
I won’t say those words then take them back.
Don’t give loneliness a chance.
Baby, listen to me when I say
I will love you more than that.
“That sounds lovely. Now that I think about it…Harlem never said anything that romantic to me,” she replied. Wait a minute! Was she calling Ryu-san romantic? He was sweet, yes, but she shouldn’t enjoy him like this!
“So…you could be mine,” he said somewhat hesitantly.
“Yes! Er- N-N-No! Oh Ryu-san, I’m confused!” she responded.
Baby, you deserve much better.
What’s the use in holdin’ on?
Don’t you see it’s now or never?
‘Cause I just can’t be friends…
Baby, knowing in the end…
“Don’t be. Only you know what’s right,” he answered back.
...that I will love you more than that.
I won’t say those words then take them back.
Don’t give loneliness a chance.
Baby, listen to me when I say… hey…
“I thought he cared,” Anis said in a quavering voice, “but he won’t open up to anyone…let alone me. I just want to help him!”
Ryu stroked her cheek.
“He’s beyond help. Anyway, shouldn’t you give yourself a break instead of him for once? If you can’t I will for you,” he assured her.
Anis’s chin trembled.
...There’s not a day that passes by
I don’t wonder why we haven’t tried.
It’s not too late to change your mind.
So take my hand…don’t say goodbye!
“Oh Ryu-san…I KNOW!” she sobbed loudly. The lady threw herself at him and cried her heart out. He held her for a long time as the bonfire burst into an inferno in the sky. Time stood still as Anis unloaded her burden tear by tear.
I will love you more than that.
I won’t say those words, then take them back.
“Listen to me. I have to leave now. Hopefully, you got the message,” he said after she finished crying.
“What are you talking about?” she sniffled.
“Wake up Anis,” he told her.
Suddenly, the fire burned out and Ryu disappeared.
Oh, I will love you more than that.
I won’t say those words, then take them back.
Don’t give loneliness a chance.
Baby, listen to me when I say…
I will love you
She gasped, felt herself plummeting like a stone, and the next thing she knew she was awake in her own familiar bed. It was all a dream. No…it was a message like he said. Anis knew what she had to do.
Oh, I will love you more than that.
I won’t say those words, then take them back.
Don’t give loneliness a chance.
Baby, listen to me when I say…
She would track down Ryu today, and solve her crisis.
I will love you more than that.
