I really like Shaman King... the only thing is... I haven't wrote a fanfic about it yet...
So, I want to write a one shot (a one chaptered fanfic) since I'm kinda of lazy.
So, any ideas for me?
But I could also do a chaptered fanfic... with slow updating...

Um... a crossover! I love crossovers... actually, how about something where... Ren gets lost in another town and has to ask for directions and stuff. Just a random thought, I'm not feeling too creative right now.

It depends on what genre you want to write. (Humor, romance, drama, etc.) Decide that before anything else.
I also suggest writing a fic starring your favorite character since that's easier/more fun to do.
If you want to write romance, I suggest the theme of "trait/object shared in common. " Think of something your characters like/dislike and use that as the catalyst to make them fall in love.
Example: Chocolove's favorite food is donuts. Pillica's never tried one, so he introduces her to the tasty snack...and to a brand new romance.
Yes I do enjoy Chocolica, but that's beside the point. I think this theme is a great one to start out with. It's fun and easy.
Two pieces of advice I must give everyone are:
1. Do not write a sickeningly perfect original character. This is called a Mary-Sue.
2. If you are going to write shonen/shoujo-ai, do not use the "I wonder if they like me back." theme. It's been done way too many times. I learned that the hard way.

Marco x Lyserg. For that pairing has farfarfar too few fanworks.
Or perhaps Ryu x Lyserg? (Another underloved pairing.)
I'm just a rabid BL fan, because this fandom has NO yuri. (Which sucks.)

Do a fluff one-shot with the pairing Yoh x anyone. That'd make me happy. ^^;;
Being serious though, i agree with Setsumi-san.
It's best to write a fic, however long it is, with a pairing or character that you like personally. I always find it hard to write stories centred around characters i don't like.

Well...my fanfics are always random...and they have random inspiration too! It's always easier to do a romance because...I have no idea why, but it's just easier.

Well, do a couple/character you like, and try to avoid taking yourself too seriously. Too many people write sappy when they mean to be angsty and I do not reccommend creating an OC, (other/original character) but that's just my opinion.
I'm sure you'll write wonderfully!
