Gonna do a tag story with my man, Vasuki. So for the rest of you, comments on our work are welcome, and that's about it!
Blue flames danced across his skin like living tattoos. He took another drag from his cigarette and breathed harshly against the night air.
It was almost two in the morning, and the diner beneath his boots had closed down about a half n' hour ago. He paced across the rooftop for the hundredth time that evening.

They started to appear; half a dozen of them, veiled in shadow, wings flapping. Level to the rooftops. Their pupils slip across their large half-globe eyes to watch him as he paced. He turned to one side and smirked at the creatures in a taunting way. After one exaggerated leap, he increased his pace. His steps becoming larger leaps as his hair and clothing flapped in the wind. The creatures looked at each other in a state of confusion. Their eye movements became a furious conversation as they seemed to argue. Eventually, the largest one rose above the pack, and gave chase. It's pack members followed reluctantly, all gliding along the same level. Except a few feet below, the smallest one. It was all it could do to keep up.... tag((hope that was ok, this is confusing, and interesting. ^_^; )

we're not sure what this story is about...just decided to do a tag story with Vas a couple weeks back...finally got around to starting it
"Right then..." he said to no one in particular as he jumped to the next rooftop.
Streaks of blue flame trailed off of him as he leapt over masonry and across metal staircases. The largest Shade had caught up to him three buildings later. He rolled and let it fly overhead. His fingers scratched against dust and cement until they felt the cool touch of metal. He clutched at the small bar and kicked his weight into a different direction.
He could feel their claws scratching against his shirt and hair. They tried to pull at him as he walked backwards off the edge of the building. They were swarming together now, trying to grab at him while gravity pulled him away.
He smiled and flipped the small metal pipe in his hand with his fingers...there was a wick at the other end.
"Why do you blokes think they call me Pipe Bomb, eh?" He lit the fuse on one of the many trails of blue fire against his skin, then threw the device straight up into the black cloud of leathery wings and eyes.

As he fell, he looked up and smiled at the explosion. The blood of those in the explosion fell and landed on his skin and clothing as he landed in an alleyway. He looked up to see the Shades retreat, most of them with likily fatal injuries, although he could never tell with such creatures. He cracked a smile. The fire around his body remained strong as it seemed to twirl gracefully around his body as if rejoicing at the victory.
He looks seriously into the sunrise as the creature wearily flapped into the distance. He gave a slightly more serious look as the flames seemed to die down.
"Damn fools....what do they think they are doing?..."
Suddenly, his eyes cought something behind him, as his smirk returned, so did the exitement of the flames.
But as he turned to the shadow that caught his eyes, he was disgusted to see it was but a juvinile Shade, feebly trying to regain stable flight level to his position.
He twirlled the pipe bomb he was ready to use, and shoved it between his belt and pants.
"No use wasting my time with that weakling...." He turned and began to search for a way to return to the rooftops. He turned to see the large eyes of the shade staring at him. A cold emotionless stare, that would almost haunt him, if he weren't who he was. He quickly shrugged his shoulders to rub off the eerie feelings he god from the hovering creature, and contiued to scan. Unfortunately, he found his acess to the rooftops, but the stair case he located, had a small Shade in the way... He looked up at the sky to see the sun readily rising, and looked back at the creature.
He winced as he supressed some memories, before ripping out the pipe bomb and thretening the seemingly mindless creature with an almost insane grin.
"Listen buddy, you can let me go past you, or, you can let me go past parts of you, your call."

bump!
"That won't be necessary...criminal." The girl had stepped through a shadow on the wall to his right. He spun around to face her and tried to take a step back...his feet wouldn't move.
"I've pinned you to your own shadow...will you try to...blow it up to escape?" The girl smiled and batted her eyes. She couldn't have been more than 16, but here she was, dressed in some kind of black robes. Her right hand was lightly rubbing the wing of the shade next to her like it was a pet.
"You've all but decimated my army, Pipe Bomb." Her eyes turned to slits as she spit out his name. "But the others want you to join us...which means you'll have to stay alive...for now."
With a great hissing sound, Pipe Bomb was dragged down into his own shadow. It felt like thick tar as he fought against it. It weighed heavy against his clothes, and dripped into his mouth like mollases as his head went under.
The last thing he remembered hearing was the young girl giggling before he fell unconcious.

"The Darkness..."
"Why am I falling"
"Are those...."
"The Shades, that girl, is this, the end?"
Pipe bomb awoke to find himself bound to a medical table of some kind. He was secured with thick leather looking straps that seemed to reek of rotting dark matter.
He surveyed the room as best as he could. Lighted from what seemed like all angles; It almost resembled a dungeon, with large stones making up the walls floor and ceiling. Standard semi-round bricks it seemed, typical of an old castle, except these all seemed new, fresh, and eerily, bright white. There even seemed to be some sort of torture devices...no, wait, they seemed to be machines. Pipe Bomb could easily make out a screen, or, at least shallow domes of glass.
"So, your awake eh?" Came a voice from behind his head. Pipe Bomb struggled to look, but, the angle was impossible with his restraints. The figure slowly made a circle around the table. He wore garments, which seemed exactly like that of the girl from who knows how long ago; it's blackness making a sharp contrast with the room. He did seem to be wearing a white thin headband though, beneath what looked like a fairly average man's face.
"So, you're the, "Pipe Bomber" eh?" The man laughed. For looking about in his late twenties, he seemed to have a very old sounding voice, or was it just an accent which was too hard to place?
"Just Pipe Bomb", He spoke in a low tone
"Whatever you say, well, my work is done here....."
The man turned around and exited through the door.
Pipe Bomb relaxed his body and sighed. Then suddenly, a wicked smile appears on his face. "What fools, leaving me with all my original clothing." He snickered again and started to squirm his body.

hmm...I might be stuck...let me think about this...The hallway outside of the dungeon was just as pristine and hollow as the dungeon itself. It mimicked the style of a 9th century castle...but all of the stone work and masonry were shades of white and ivory. The man in the black robes with the thin, white headband stood for a moment outside of the dungeon. He smiled to himself. "Pipe Bomb, is mocking me..." he spoke the words to no one else, but there was one other in this corridor. Huddled on the floor of the hallway was a thin looking teenager. He wore black leather pants and a black long sleeve shirt that clung to his figure. His hair was a tangled mess of braids that contrasted against his pale skin. His feet and hands were bare, and at the wrists and ankles he wore heavy iron shackles. Lengths of chain a hundred metres long snaked back from the devices and down the length of the bright white hallway. "Geoff...record the exact time when Pipe Bomb has escaped. Then make sure he knows where to go to find The Council." The man in black robes began walking forward again, but pale fingers caught at the hem of his clothes. "My Lord. Shalt we do worse to this man by bringing him here? Shalt we do worse to ourselves? What cruelty have we to curse him this fate of ours and strengthen our dark armies all the same?" The man tugged his robes away from Geoff's hands and walked away as he replied to him. "If it were not for the darkness already in his soul, he would not be here...and Geoff...lay off the Shakespeare." Geoff leaned solemnly against the wall. He stared at the dungeon door and used the chains attached to his right wrist to tick off the seconds as they passed by. Should we start going somewhere concrete with this or wander it around a little more? Is Pipe Bomb our anti-hero? I wonder if we should discuss some ideas, lay down a poll for the readers and then try and give the readers what they want

"thou sha....oh, right, lay off the Shake..." Geoff trailed off as he realized he was talking to no one. He thought to himself...
"Geeze, he could be a tad nicer, excuse me if I try and keep my spirits up while they hold me here...."
Geoff stared at the door..... "Why isn't he coming out?" He thought.... "Surely he would have broken, or rather, demolished the door by now and be eager to seek out his captures...."
"What could he be doing in there... perhaps he is devising an alternate escape!!!!" Geoff winced at the possible punishment he would endure if he did not carry out orders.
He dragged his chains over to the dungeon door and reached toward the handle....
When suddenly the door came crashing open with a large explosion.
Suddenly Pipe Bomb walked through the hole in the wall that was the dungeon room entrance.
He looked out into the expansive hall way
"Damn lock couldn't be picked, had to waste a pipe...."
He looked down at the dazed boy lying under his feet, and the destroyed door.
"The hell are you?"
Pipe bomb poked the boy's head
"Human at least. Whatever, I gotta find my way out of this fun house."
Pipe bomb smugly began to walk down the hall to the left, when suddenly he saw something fall down past his face.
He looked back to see an exhausted Geoff looking like he just threw a rhino. He noticed the looped chains around his legs, and then stepped out of them and walked over to the frail looking teen.
"You really thought that would work kid?"
"Thou should be wise to....summers day....wanderer of the night......food of love......"
"The hell?"
"Fine, I give up, ok, listen Pipe Bomber, you want to find those who did this to you, take a left, and then up the stairs, shouldn't be too hard. There you will find "The Council" You want to get them ok?"
"Uh, I was going left anyways kid....and there's only one set of stairs over there...."
"Uhh..."
"Yah, well, what the hell are you anyways, some kinda slave?"
"I am a servant of "The Council" I am permitted to live as I am in return for my services."
"So.... a slave then?" Pipe bomb said with lesser enthusiasm
"Just go to the left ok? They're gonna kill me if you don't go to them."
"Whatever kid...." Pipe bomb says as he heads off to the right.
Geoff's eyes widen with shock.
"Heheh, just kiddin kid." Pipe bomb laughs as he turns back toward the left leaving Geoff who stumbles back onto the ground. He stood there staring at the man as he seemed to bounce to a self made rhythm down the hall. And as he walked.
As he started up the stairs and head out of sight; Geoff stared at the dungeon door, and hit his chains together counting off the seconds, or something similar.
