Candy Kisses
Takuto watched Mitsuki while in his little cat form as she cheerfully decorated the room in colorful hearts and ribbons. For this ‘Valentine’s Day’. Takuto vaguely remembered it. It made a lot of people happy though, and had a lot to do with hearts. He had been watching tv earlier, and saw that it was a good holiday for couples.
He sighed at the thought, as he still gazed upon Mitsuki. Couples… He knew what she was thinking of with that bright smile on her face. Eichi. Of course, it had to be Eichi. It angered Takuto at the thought. He wanted her so badly…he wanted to hold her in his arms and kiss her. To be with her, without her thinking of Eichi. But that seemed so impossible.
Takuto looked at the cute white, pink, and red decorations that now covered the room. This holiday was meant to show that special person you love them… So maybe he could do that. Maybe he could win over Mitsuki’s heart today. A confident smile appeared on his face, and he decided to go around, looking for a gift for Mitsuki.
The cat Shinigami wandered around the town. Looking in shop windows, trying to seek out the perfect thing. He had ‘borrowed’ some of Full Moon’s money for the occasion. She had a lot of it, and he didn’t think it would matter, especially if he could find her a good gift.
Passing by a small candy shop, Takuto stopped and looked inside. It smelt so delicious! In the window were rows of freshly baked cookies, and many chocolates. They all looked delectable, and Takuto wondered if she would like some. Candy seemed to be a big part of this holiday.
He casually went inside, and bought a box of candy hearts, with some chocolate cherries. They looked very good and he was sure Mitsuki would love them. But candy wasn’t enough. He needed to get her something really special. Something she could hang onto. And so his search continued.
Shop after shop he looked in, with no luck. Soon he noticed it was becoming later and later. The afternoon was slowly slipping away. Hurriedly, Takuto continued looking through shops windows.
He was soon stopped in his tracks. In one window sat beautiful, elegant, sparkling jewelry. Rings, necklaces, earrings, everything. It was all breathtakingly beautiful. Takuto looked down at the jewelry and smirked. This was it, he would find the perfect gift here. He went into the shop and looked around. He soon came across a beautiful necklace. A heart shaped pendant, made of sparkling ruby, and on a gold chain. The cat Shinigami looked down at it, and knew it was perfect. He pictured Mitsuki in it, and it looked so cute.
Takuto excitedly got a clerk to get him the necklace, and paid for it, spending the rest of his money. The necklace was placed in a white colored box, and delicately placed in a bag. Takuto asked the time, and it was a bit after 5 O’clock. He could make it back and prepare things just in time.
With that, Takuto went back and did his best to avoid Mitsuki. He wished Meroko was there to help him, but Izumi had taken her out for the day. She wouldn’t have been too happy helping him with this sort of thing anyway.
Takuto carefully, yet sloppily wrapped the box containing the necklace. He took it and the candy and placed it on the table in the living room. There, he sat and waited for Mitsuki, who had gone out to the recording studio.
Soon it was nearing 7. Takuto wondered how much longer it would be, when just then none other than Mitsuki walked through the door. She was dressed in a frilly pink dress, with some pink ribbons in her hair. Takuto found it adorable.
He blushed a pink color as he approached her, holding the gifts.
“Hi Takuto! I’m back~! I take it Meroko and Izumi are still out?” she greeted cheerfully.
“Yeah, they are. Welcome back, Mitsuki..”
“What are those presents you’re holding, Takuto? Are they for Meroko?” Mitsuki asked innocently.
Takuto smiled at her and shook his head. “No. They’re for you, actually.”
“What..? Me? Oh Takuto…you really shouldn’t have…” she replied, she too, turning a pink color.
“Well I did.” Takuto replied. “Here.” He said, handing her the box of candy and chocolate cherries.
Mitsuki smiled and accepted them. “Oh Takuto, they look great! Thank you!” she said gratefully.
“That’s not all…” Takuto stopped her, reaching for the little white box.
“Hmm?”
“Here, Mitsuki. Close your eyes.” Takuto said, and she obeyed, unsure of what he was up to. Takuto opened the box, and took out the ruby necklace. He carefully put it on her, and then kissed her softly on her forehead. “You can open them now..”
Mitsuki did so, and looked down to see her new necklace. She gasped as her cheeks turned redder. “Oh, Takuto…this is..too much… It’s beautiful… I love it! Thank you..but it’s really too much….”
“No, it’s not. I wanted to get it for you, I did. Accept it.” He replied sternly as he admired her. He was right, the necklace suited her perfectly. She looked like an angel..
“Mm… Thank you, so much..” Mitsuki said, still blushing.
Takuto couldn’t keep it in anymore. He needed her. He swallowed, and then slowly leaned forward, pulling her into a passionate kiss.
Mitsuki gasped in surprise as her lips met his. She wanted to pull away, but couldn’t. A flash of Eichi went through her mind, and she felt awful…but at the same time..it felt right. Takuto pulled away after a moment, and she looked up at him; her cheeks now a crimson color.
“Takuto..”
Mitsuki kissed him this time. Now he was the surprised one. He really hadn’t expected this…had he really done it? Had he really won Mitsuki’s heart? Takuto decided to forget, and just enjoy the kiss. When the two pulled apart, they looked up into each other’s eyes lovingly.
“Mitsuki… I love you. I know… I’m not Eichi, but I love you. With all my heart. Happy Valentine’s Day.” Takuto said, a contented expression on his face.
Mitsuki smiled sweetly. “I love you too, Takuto.” She said softly, hugging him. He held her tightly to him, and closed his eyes. This was all he wanted. All he needed. He didn’t want the night to end, and neither did she.
