Okay, I don't know how many people know this song, but it's by Kenny Chesney ( lyrics) The basic premise of the song is how certain songs can be used to remember specific things in our lives. So, here's the topic: What songs send you back into your memories, and why are they memorable? For me, the song that always gets me is Colin Raye's "On the Verge." What happened was, my freshman year in high school, we got to go to Disneyland. Part of our trip included getting to march down Main Street. To get ready, they took us into the back staging areas. However, in the back is also where they make/work on the floats for the parade. From one of the open garage doors, I heard that song playing as we walked by. So hearing the song always reminds me of getting to march in Disneyland.

For a reason I will not mention here, the song Everything I Do by Brian Adams holds a special place in my heart. Heya by Outcast always makes me hungry. Renegade by Jay-Z always reminds me of the boyfriend of an ex-friend. Oh how I hated him... Dream On by Aerosmith makes me think of rainbows and chocolate. Don't ask. Behind blue Eyes by The Who or Limp Bizkit (either one will do) always makes me cry. Home by Stephanie Mills makes me think of my family. Beetheoven's Moonlight Sonata (No. 14) makes me think of my years in middle school. (Where I saw the light at the end of the tunnel and just as I was about to reach it someone kicked me in the back and I fell in the mud) Dust ya Shoulders Off by Jay-Z reminds me of Danny. You guys don't know him... Jesus Walks by Kanyae West reminds me of the things we take for granted. Finlandia by Jean Sibelius reminds me of a night I wish I could forget. It was playing in the background. How sadistic. My All by Mariah Carey has the ability to put me to sleep every time I hear it. And I have spammed this thread enough... EDIT: I don't know why everyone's avoiding this thread. I have hundreds of these... Thought of another one. Someday by Nickelback (sp?) was playing in the background in my father's hospital room as he was dying. Right about here: Well I'd hope that since we're here anyway We could end up saying Things we always needed to say So we could end up staying. You know the song, went off into this: Someday, Somehow I'm gonna make it alright, but not right now. I know you're wondering when. If any of you had known my father, you would know why I get angry every time I hear that song. and cry

Hmmm....I'll try to keep it as short as possible. (<--- music whore).
f**k Forever- Babyshambles: Getting ready in the mornings. I'll usually listen to them. Same with Sexy Results- Death From Above 1979.
Closing Time- Semisonic: This played on the last day of school, two years ago, back when I was leaving to High school. I remember crying, hugging everyone, and all of that jazz. It was also the last time I ever produced our school's Television show (film class). I had some of my best memories there.
Ex-Dream- Myuji: Reminds me of a hotel I stayed at once. I was crashing with a few of my friends on a trip, and I picked up the first X OST at the mall earlier. Among other swag.
New Year- Death Cab For Cutie: Reminds me of work. I listend to it for the first time (forever ago) when I was at the office. Also reminds me of rain. Since it was raining.
Televators- The Mars Volta: School. A few friends and I were chillaxing in the computer lab and watching this video two semesters ago. Fun fun.
Journey- The Cherry Coke$: Eating. I was listening to The Cherry Coke$ one day when I went out to eat. The food wasn't that good, but the music compensated!
Walking With Thee- Clinic: Reminds me of work. Again, no real reason. also reminds me of sunny days.
X and Y- Coldplay: Another hotel in Pennsylvania. I was half-asleep, but I remember being extremely happy that they were playing snippets of their new CD on VH1 (hotel TV was on).
Maps- The Yeah Yeah Yeahs: This and I Believe In A Thing Called Love- The Darkness always remind me of mornings. Back when, I'd always get ready to leave with MTV2 on the telly, and EVERYDAY, these two would play.
Bandages- Hot Hot Heat: Sunset. When I took my evening jog (three years ago or so) every day, this song would usually be on. For some reason. Ha, I remember when these guys were unknown. Same with both There There- Radiohead and Girl's Not Grey- AFI.
Behind Blue Eyes (cover)- Limp Bizkit: Snow. And videogames. I was chatting with my friend Shira/'Shadi' about how good the fighting games on the Genesis were, and it was also the first snow day in like forever. Also reminds me of the color blue.
Absolution- Muse: Morning. I had listened to them by a recommendation another online friend had made. Back when they were still unreleased in America. Also reminds me of the color red. And of blogging. Hm.
Death To Death- Stars: Lake. Went on a field trip to a lake in Biology, and I was jamming to this and Wonderwall- Oasis during downtime. When we weren't lost in the woods.
Follow The Waves- Melissa Auf Der Maur: Layouts. I made my first livejournal layout about two years ago after listening to this... I think it was of Naruto. It was actually pretty good. Spent three hours figuring out how to code the thing, which is mostly where I learned from.
Elevation (remix)- U2: Hard-rock cafe memory. I remember this playing as we were eating. Huge screen, with this video on. I was blown away.
The Zephyr Song- The Red Hot Chili Peppers: Softball. During my last season, I listened to By The Way like mad. Only year I ever hit a grand slam, coincidentally.
Anything by Porcupine Tree: Friends and I went on a trip to the set of Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill. It was hilarious at the time: I had fallen asleep sitting up, so my friend LeeAnn took her headphones off (listening to them, I suppose), jacked the volume up, and lightly placed them over my ears. Thus scaring me shitless.
American Jesus- Bad Religion: Working out. LeeAnn is a total Bad Religion h00r, so we'd sit around and listen to them in the gym sometimes.
Only Got One- Frou Frou: Driving. Also reminds me of cars. Why? Who knows.
When It's Over- Sugar Ray: Tanning. I always listen to them when I tan/lay out.
Empty- Metric (or anything else off of Live It Out): D.Gray-man. I think I picked up the first volume or something that day. Was also listening to Metric. Go figure.
Save Tonight- Eagle Eye Cherry: Reminds me of my birthday. Also of the magazine Newtype. My friend Taylor had picked it up for me as a gift, and later, this played. (that's still my favorite issue).
Yellow Submarine- The Beatles: My friend Brittany's house. Well, she was playing it.
The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage- Panic! At The Disco: Biology class. Brittany mentioned it once, and it stuck.
Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo- Bloodhound Gang: Lunch. Ed, Brittany, and everyone else get this stuck in my head almost EVERY DAMN DAY.
Music- Madonna: City driving. It always comes on when I'm in the city.
Harder To Breathe- Maroon 5: Gah, how could I have forgotten this one? It reminds me of a lot of things. Christmas, the color red, and icon-making. An avatar my friend May (tomato on LJ) had on another forum was red (of Yami Yuugi, I believe), gorgeous, and I remember very well her recommending Maroon 5 to everyone, since they were virtually unknown back then. I got their first CD over the holidays, and have since been inspired to make icons seriously. Been a good two years since then. So, I blame it all on her.
...
Phew.
