I don't know much about where to find Japanese books in the US,but I need a book that's:
200-300 pages
English translated
at a high school sophmore reading level
I'm looking for something ion the means of drama, maybe with a little love story in it(nothing overly mushy). Those of you who have seen the Japanese drama shows on AZN might know what I'm talking about.Something that takes place in modern-day Japan. If someone could recommend me a book I'd appreciate it.

I know Socrates in Love was just translated... it's a dramatic novel and is supposed to be really good. Not sure about the mushiness, but it's a bestseller in Japan!

I'd personally reccomend anything by Kenji Miyazawa, though his better stuff is a bit hard to get.

Read Snow Country by Kawabata yasunari. I did a report on him in highschool. He was the first japanese author to recieve the nobel peace prize for literature. His best friend, whose name icant remember (god strike me down), wait, Mishima, was the last man noted in japanese history for commiting seppuku.

If you're into stuff like history, then Rytaro Shiba has some good books.
I had finished reading The Last Shogun: The Life of Tokugawa Yoshinobu recently.
