Hey, while going by your site I thought this might be of interest to you. Sean Schemmel Interview It's an old interview with Sean Schemmel from 1999/2000 where to address inquiries by fellow DBZ fans. If you're familiar with DBZ, you'll understand why this interview was so controversial with the fans when it came out. (since Sean didn't even know anything about his character Goku after voicing him for 100+ episodes) |

I think that at certain points, both Mr. Schemmel AND the interviewer are annoying (at certain points).
The Interviewers comment--
"Jon: (interrupting) Pokemon's crap can't ever live up to DBZ's fight scenes"
was uncalled for. I'm not really a fan of Pokemon, but I'm not going to call it crap. It's just repetative. (on that note, I'm not really a fan of DBZ either, but I don't make a big deal of it.)
I also didn't like Mr. Schemmels comments about Japanese music not working for "American Culture." And that english VA's shouldn't be compared to the Japanese.
I myself am a fan of dubs, and yes, sometimes I do compare acting performances. He really shouldn't be offended by that. Also I don't agree that, even in a "entertaining" show, that you can't teach a little culture on the way.
That said, I thought the rest of the interview was fine enough. I'm pleased that Mr. Shcemmel pointed out that a lot of things are more due to the directors than to the VA's . A lot of fans seem to forget that fact.

-__- THIS guy is doing Amidamaru??! Dude, if you're going into voiceacting AT LEAST do research beforehand on your character. if i could act and i had a cute voice, i would TOTALLY be a VA!! sheesh. how insulting.
