Todays Mankin dub thoughts: Ah, actually, I haven't seen the original of this one for a while, but I think it was alright. I was just thinking today that Shaman King is such a good show sometimes that it is really hard to mess up. The scene where Yoh puts his arm around Ren is just sweet ^_^ . The fact that they STILL wipe off the text from talismans still looks silly though.

This episode was really good. My favorite parts are when they begin to attack and a splitscreen appears one side is a 3 dimensional drawing of Horohoro and on the other side is a three dimensional picture of ryu/rio. Oh yeah, i have one question, is that little game Horohoro and Ryu have to see who had the more kills happens really in the original or was it an add in

I enjoyed the episode also. The only thing that MAJORLY scared me was William Hung... I never want him to announce Shaman King ever again. Unfortunately... he'll be back again next week. Heh...Care to look at the FoxBox site as WELL? Urgh... I really liked Ren's Mom's voice. ^^ She's so pretty, isn't she? Well, they kept her as Ren and Jun's Mom o.O guess they think its creepy for her to be married to a scary, mean guy like En. Finally I see how Ryu got that HORRENDOUS hairdo...oh my gosh get rid of it, get rid of it!!!! >< He goes for a number of eppies with it tho ;-;

Hey, I liked Ren and Jun's mom's voice! It's Megan Hollingshead! xD Megan also voiced Ren and Jun's cousin a while back.
Marc Thompson voices En. Did I mention that before? Must've forgot. Ah well. The reason I'm pointing this out now is because En sounded eerily like Yu-Gi-Oh's dub Otogi at some parts. xD
In general, I did like this episode. ^^ Especially HoroHoro and Ryu's fight. And when Yoh put his arm around Ren. :D (Can everyone say 'awww!'?)
As for William Hung, I never want him to do ANYTHING FoxBox related ever again. xD One more week... just one more week...

I'm so confused... who IS William Hung? I didn't watch enough of the FoxBox to find out.

William Hung is a guy that auditioned for American Idol. He SUCKED. BADLY. He was rejected off the spot. Some weeks later, some guy gives him a contract and suddenly he's one of the most popular singers on TV. He was first supposed to be used as a parody, to be made fun of, but now people are just annoyed with him, including me.

I'm actually pretty happy with this episode. There wasn't as much ruined. Sure, a few line/name changes, something painted over, but not really all that bad. But, I still miss Ryu's line when he comments about how girls dress in China......Apparently, he can get it straight in the you-know-where but he can't be a pervert. Damn it all, and that's most of what makes him so funny! ;D

Aside from me wanting to scream "IT'SREN'SFATHERNOTHISUNCLEDAMMIT" every time they mentioned Ren's "uncle", it was decent. Although the line about Ren's father being dead squashes all hope of the father/uncle thing being set straight :/ And the fact that Ren & Jun sound british really bugged me in this episode, probably because it was set in their home in CHINA.

Actually, the whole casting British accents for Chinese characters confused me, until I mentioned it to my friend and he brought up a valid point. As you all know, China, namely Hong Kong, was under British occupation for many centuries and Hong Kong only recently regained their sovereinty. Therefore, it makes a little sense that many anime and even live-action movies (think Jackie Chan and the like) use British accents for English-speaking Chinese characters. On that basis alone, the dub didn't bother me too much, but still, it wouldn't be that hard to just use a regular accent.

I don't know if you knew about this but: From the Deities, the Kyonshi that has a machine gun on his shoulder got edited at first but then when he was fighting Horo^2 he had it and he was shooting Horo^2 he even had the rocket launcher on his leg.
Or was this on episode 23?

I double checked it, It wasn't edited. The reason you don't see the kyonshi's firearms until he starts attacking HoroHoro is because the guns are concealed INSIDE it's body. (yuck...)
