I'm very confused about something with this episode. Did I miss something or was Len actually holding a broken sword when they showed him? Was that the sword his father/uncle gave him or was it something else? I'm feeling like 4kids dropped something.

Actually, I don't think that was an edit. (I've only watched eps 27-end in Japanese.) From what I've seen, Ren's weapon like... comes out... how do I explain it? XD Ok, you know those Star Wars lightsaber sword things that have it like hidden inside the hilt until you swing it and the light part comes out? Ren's sword like extends, sort of. .... I have no idea how to explain it. XD
Ok, when he's not using it, all you see is a part of it. When he starts using it though, he swings it and the rest comes out. Its like hidden inside or something. I dunno. XDD Sorry for my extremely awful descriptions.

His sword telescopes out. Kinda nifty, huh?
How about that "sneak peek" today, too... =n_n=

"Telescopes out". Well said. Two words that explain more than my whole two paragraphs did. XD
The sneak peek bugged me. XDDD I mean... they just gave away something that you learn later on in the series. O.o Opacho's voice IMO wasn't very good either. Sounded like his nose was plugged. XD

Ok, guess that explains that. I've lost count on episodes I think...
That preview made me want next season here now.

I actually liked the 'sneak peek' (If half the shots are from the final battle, it's not a 'peek' ), except for the fact that they gave away all the suspense and all the good surprises. I kind of liked seeing little mini-bits of Lyserg, Chocolove, and the two Hanagumi ghosts....Though, with so few actually voices involved, I'll now be obsessing over that all summer....
As for the episode, the only things that really irked me all day were Opacho's voice and the X-Laws logo getting painted out. They're turing Opacho into a whinny, hyper little brat and I still don't understand what's so offense about the X-Laws logo. It's not even really a cross, just a bunch of rearranged letters! Even the soccer moms and Fundamenalists probably wouldn't have minded it!
On a side note, that probably doesn't have anything to really do with this, I'll just comment this. Normally, I keep saying that it would be cute if Lip and Rap (the two little Patch kids in the manga ) were in the anime. Though, with the way the dub does little kids, Millie got wreaked too, I'd shutter to think what might have happened to them if they were in the anime.

This weeks thoughts! Holy crap. The 4kids "sneak peak" of season 2 of Shaman King showed HUGE spoilers for the VERY LAST episodes 0_o . If I was a fan who only watched the dub, I would be kind of pissed. Ah, this post itself contains a spoiler or two, so you've been warned. This weeks Mankin thoughts (epi 25). The scene that suffered the most from the ussual changes that 4kids adds (mainly additional dialoug) was the Yoh and Anna scene in the park. Besides that, the episode had it's good and bad points. (I originally Really REALLY loved this episode, but I prefer episodes that are less about fighting and more about character development in general.) Oh yeah, stupid changes added by 4kids. (I normally try not to out and out say "stupid" but in these cases....) Patch Village renamed to "Dobi Village" (ironic, considering the word "Patch" was in english in the first place 0_o.) The "rule" that only shamans are allowed in Dobi village is stupid considering that Manta goes there later anyways. "The desert to the west" in the dub, was "America" in the original . Heeeeee, now the Shaman King dub will be in re-runs for a while so I can finally work on catching up on the comparisons. Fixing up some things on BOTH of my sites, and uh.... life in general *laughs*. Oh, but I'm sad that it seems that 4kids has the rights to the rest of the series though :/ . Someone out there! Subliscence the original! PLEASE!!!!! Oh yeah, about Opachao's voice. I guess I'm the ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD who believes that kid is a girl . A lot of fans of the original think it's a guy, and apparently so do the dubbers ^^; . Her/his voice? meh.

"The dessert to the west" in the dub, was "America" in the original. Mmmm...dessert to the west...yummy! Speaking of dessert, I liked Rio's Chocolate Parfait while everyone else is drinking soda or orange juice or something...I like little details like that...they really make a show and flesh out the characters in unexpected ways. -Opacho didn't speak about itself in 3rd person like its supposed to, that was kind of a letdown. And its voice sucks. -Apparently 4kids doesn't know that revealing scenes from the final episode in a "sneak preview" is bad. Also, when they had the "new allies" chunk, Faust's presence in it bugged me, if only because he'd already been seen in the dub(sure he wasn't one of Yoh's allies, but...). And revealing that Yoh & Hao/Zeke were brothers ruins another good suprise. -I kinda tuned out the middle of the episode *sweatdrop* -I'm hating the name Zeke more & more every day -Why the hell did 4Kids edit out the fact that they were going to America? Must be part of their evil plot to prevent dubbies from knowing that the show came from Japan...but still, it's kinda obvious if you pay enough attention anyway. -Some of the dialouge sounded...forced. Can't pick out anything in particular if only because I've forgotten most of it already *sweatdrop*

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the dub, INTENTIONALLY cut out Ren's obsession with 3 gag.
When asked how many planes he has, Ren is supposed to say the Tao has 32 others (so in all, 33 ^.^ .) In the dub they changed it to say he had a dozen more. It would of been easy to say "32", but the dub changed the number. Why 0_o ?

Could be that they never caught the joke, Lovely?
I wonder what the process is for dubbing...does the production studio get a set of liner notes from the original company on things like that?
