i do believe, a while back we were discusing yohmei saying spirit was part of the pentagram in the dub? and there were conflicts as to that it was metal or something... well this pentagram says that spirit IS part of the pentagram, so apparently, 4kids does have reminance of a brain after all.

er....where did you get that? anyways, the "pentagram" was originally a star in the original manga, representing the 5 elements, which were metal, gold, fire, water, and wood. so i guess 4kids ad some brains, but lost most of it. i mean, its a nice pentagram, just not the right one.

Of course, then there's my way of remembering them: Ai, Ki, Chiba, Mizu, Hi... aka Venus, Jupiter, Moon, Mercury, Mars (I don't think anyone needs to be told why Moon represents Earth...). I love Japanese word-plays.

I believe the one of metal, earth, water, fire, and wood is the eastern version of the pentagram. The one darkness posted could be the western version.

I believe that's how it goes as well, resurie. Oh, and, just for fun, here's an expansion on what I was talking about last night ((comes from A Castle in the Sky Sailor Moon Page)): In Japanese, each planet is equated with an element. For example, the planet Mercury is "mizusei." "Mizu" is water, "sei" is star or planet. Mars is "kasei" ("ka" = fire). Jupiter is "mokusei" ("moku" = tree). Venus is "kinsei" ("kin" = gold). Earth is "chikyuu" ("chi" = earth, "chikyuu" = Planet Earth). In Sailor Moon, they use this as a word play. Mercury's family name is "Mizuno", Mars' is "Hino" ("hi" is another reading for the kanji for fire), and Jupiter's is "Kino" ("ki" is another reading for the kanji for tree). Venus' name ("Aino") doesn't match the pattern, but the kanji for "Mi-na-ko" can also be read as "Bi-na-su" (Venus).

yea, naoko tekeuchi incorporated a lot of mythology into her manga. anyways, its not just the planets, but the days of the week have something to do with the five elements also( saturday and sunday are represented with the kanji for the moon and sun)

Guys, be glad 4Kids even decided to KEEP the pentagram in SK at all. In Yuugiou, they pretty much either added extra stars to pentagrams or just covered them over.

Do you mean extra points?
Uh, anyhoo technically the pentagram wasn't kept, it was just turned into a normal looking star.

I thought the pentagram had six points and the pentacle had five? Or was the difference in that one is encircled and the others not or the pentagram is upside down and the pentacle is rightside up? Or are they the same thing? Every source says something different .

The pentagram and the pentacle are the same thing. Think about math...anything that starts when "penta" has five points. Six points are Jewish stars. XD I'm joking..I forgot the six-pointed star's name...

The Jewish sign is the star of David. The hexagram is the six-pointed star, which I think is encircled.
