So Saturn picked up an Ipod Mini for work...and for those of you like me that have no idea what these things can do basically: - It's an audio player (formats other than mp3 are supported)
- And it's a really large jump drive.
Anything not used up by the music gets used in a seperate partition that acts like a removable harddrive...and it's auto detected by windows. So this got me thinking...how could I alternatively use this tiny portable device. My only alt-use so far is fan distribution...let's say you show up to an anime con with your mini, which has 4 gigs minus music. And seven other people do the same. It only takes one guy at the con to have a laptop (any brand) with two USB 2.0 or firewire hookups...you could easily distribute an entire sub-series to others. Keep everything legal...only let people distribute stuff that's not available in the US...music, videos, wallpapers...if you have a fullsized Ipod that stores 20 gig or 40 gig, you can easily walk away with alot of cool free stuff from that con, just for providing something of your own to the others. And when you're not trading, and waiting for a panel to open you can use the Ipod as a music player...it's a win win situation... LC
