Today is shaping up to be a bad day for me ;_; ....

My VCR was recording the WRONG channel for Shaman King this morning *weep*. I've missed the first 8 minutes. That's about 1/3 of an episode!

So.... uh..... anyone with good knowledge of both shows want to submit an episode comparison ^^; ? (or maybe not that much in the begining was edited/changed anyways?).

This is so depressing...

All I know is that Yoh said how hard it is to say "Amidamaru into the sword, into the antiquity!" And then asked what an antiquity was, anyway. Anna then said the definition really fast. Yoh and "Morty" were impressed by how she looked it up.

Now, judging by what you(Lovely) said the original line was, they kept in the beginning, but changed the Anna saying the name really fast. Sigh.........So close, 4Kids, so close.

Oh, for reference, my tape began RIGHT after Fudouh sealed the Lilly 5's spirits. (I haven't sat down to watch the episode yet by the way.)

Hey! Don't worry Lovely! I accidentally recorded SK instead of OP (the dub of OP is way more challenging to compare instead of SK, it's fun work for me!), so I have it on VHS. I can easily transfer it to PC, and send it in chunks! So if you want it, PM me. (Off topic, you can also PM me about that song while Anna is forcing Yoh to train (Ep. 6 i believe?))

The only thing I can remember is that they edited off the scriptures Mikihisa put on Silver, but they kept angry Silver.

the part where mikihisa saves silva is b4 the theme song, then after the theme song, Fodou tries to seal Ly 5 spirits. Fodou asks if they know Yoh Asakura and the little Ly(forget her name) says that they are their friends. Then Fodou into their minds and sees Yoh and co. and sees their spirits. Then he notices that Morty has no spirit and quotes, "He must be a very strong shaman to hide his ghost" Then the Ly's laugh and say that Morty isnt a shaman which I thought was funny.

Here's my notes for the beginning of the episode... granted I'm watching the original now, and watched the dub late at night after getting back from Con, but...


The stuff before the title card was put before the opening in the dub (like they always do), but it was referred to as "previously on Shaman King".

As was already mentioned, the characters Mikihisa wrote were removed, although they look like the Sanskrit characters that were left in (most of them don't look like kanji). The characature was left, though.

The "spirit rope" being dispursed was changed. I THINK that what they did was completely cut the frames that had the kanji (this one I think was kanji), but since I don't have the episode anymore, I can't confirm it.

I don't remember correctly, but I think Mikihisa and Silva's conversation was a bit different. I do know that my fansub has Silva referring to Mikihisa as a "trainer," but that wasn't in the dub.

Ren's dream/vision wasn't in the dub. It cut directly from Mikihisa/Silva to Fudou and the Lily 5.

Speaking of the Lily 5, instead of Milly (I think... the little one) saying that they knew Yoh's team and that they were strong and would beat them up for them, she was saying in the dub that they were friends or something like that.

In the dub, Fudou seems to class ALL "guardian ghosts" as "evil spirits." In the original, Fudou makes a distinction between "evil spirits" (i.e. human spirits), fairies (sprites like Morphine or Kororo), and kami-class (duh). The line in the dub is simply that "Morty" must be really powerful to hide his spirit. I also don't remember Fudou being surprised in the dub that a "normal human" was Yoh's best friend.

When the Lily 5 brought out their spirits, Fudoh's partners commented along the lines of "oh, good, they brought them out. Now we can seal them," instead of classifying them as "low level evil spirits." Apparently, if the spirit wasn't out, they couldn't seal it in the dub.

And the scene where someone's yelling at "Rairu" being disqualified was cut. I didn't even remember that scene at all.

And then comes Yoh practicing. You got that part, right?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that DemonBoy sent me the parts of the episode I was missing. (though, I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.)
