Hmm. I really didn't like the dub to this. They cut out Faust scene, and there were a lot of out-of-character moments/killed speeches. The background music was also quite lackluster compared to the Ballade version of Northern Lights that they originally had playing.

~Meene was very cruel to Lyserg. Originally, she was kind to Lyserg, sot of the "Good X-Law."
-Mikihisa... uhg. Need I say more?
-In the Japanese version, Anna was a bit sweeter to Yoh at first, not telling him to "never say anything like that again" but that "Even so, she'd always be Asakura Yoh's wife." Granted, she still went and shoved the paper up his nose, but it was a cute moment...
-Peyote sang. Not quite OOC, but still... what on earth were they thinking...? O--o
-Lyserg's tears were for Jeanne, not for his own failure. Somehow it seemed more... nice(?) that way. He was worried about her.
-4Kids threw in a lot of extra Len vs Yoh rivalry. Originally, he was ticked off at Hao.
-Did Konchi sound French to anyone else for a minute???
-Not that I care, but Nichrom never doubted Ren's strength or voiced a wish for Ren to die. He just said for Ren to amend the sin of killing Chrom by joing Hao. <What logic is that?> Also, Hao never requested that Nichrom go bug Ren, Nichrom had left on his own, saying that he'd "bring Hao a gift."
-Yoh never quit the Shaman Fight, at least not by my subs. It was more of a short break.


I've made this clear, many, many times, but I really do hate Nichrom... did anyone else notice that his voice sounded very effeminate at points? And that he said "furyoku" very weirdly? I guess if you're that big a moron, four syllables are quite the challenge... ^^;

Oh yeah, and Morty's "Hey Yoh, it's good to see you're okay." was delivered very cutely. Something about the flatness...

When the Meene told Lyserghe was "out" she had a nice facial expresion,so in the dub it was sorta "*smilesmile monotone* your out, Lyserg." Did anyone else notice that? O.o

and I was just about to comment about that (if I could signed in). This is my list of dub cuts which I have posted on SKN (and continue to do for the remaining episodes, but not nearly as good as SKU's version) (and this is skn).

Added in "Last time" (predictable)
- Completely removed Opacho and Hao in sandstorm scene.
- Added words to Peyote's song (who's VA in the dub is the same as Ryu)
- Removed Luchist's cross
- Removed Hao from Peyote
- the dub added the plot hole of why Peyote suddenly rejoined Hao group
- Orginally Nichrome was going to give the "present" of Ren to Hao not Hao ordering Nichrome to get Ren.
- The dub did a good job of patching over Chocolove's jokes
- Meanne was way to cruel to Lyserg (didn'tt use gentle once)
- Removed the scene of Faust trying to help Jeanne (since he is a doctor), and Marco trying to stop him
- Completely changed Goldva's character. She is very traditional, by the book, and follows the Great Spirit. Suddenly she wants to track down and stop Hao (this is suppose to be Silva's character). 4Kids really killed this.
- I usally don't bash the VAs much, but Nichrome's voice changed way too much in the conversation with Ren. He just couldn't stay at one level from line to line.
- Also, in the dub they didn't change Yoh's voice when he had the paper up his nose (suppose to be muffled a bit).
- The dub kept the Anna slap, but I am not sure if they kept the speck of blood or not.
- Removed the laugher lines around Mikihisa but strangely kept the sounds
- Pilica was suppose to figure out the hidden button combo when Horohoro was asleep, not when he was awake.
- They also edited out Mikihisa's line of "A fight between Father and son" when talking to Silva. Within the Japanese society, that father-son "bond" is very important. It's considered one of the most rudest things to do, to break into if you are not within the family. I can understand why it's not in the dub, to a point, but I felt that it was very important in the orginal.

The episode name was "Secret Path" if anyone was wondering since the end of the thread title was missing. This episode was great. I liked how Tamao though Chocolove was funny when he told her the turtle neck joke.
