Through the process of retranslating and partially kiddifying a complete script, bits of information are bound to be misused, or even forgoten. The 4kids' Shaman King dub had a few of these. These are mainly just some things I didn't understand while watching the dub, that 4kids may have not put in. Zeke. Awesome character, but there's two things I don't understand about him. At some point in the anime, they mentioned him mastering five (or was it four?) elements. They showed Fire as his favorite (BURN!) and water as an alternative when he lost his medium. What are the others? Is it ever mentioned? I heard they really messed up on his reincarnation... Is this true? What were the dates and such that he was born/died. Was his first incarnation the first Asakura? This part really confuzzled me. About the Patch/Dobie people: Are they based on a real Indian tribe? I've got some mixed indian blood in me, and I would find it most cool to link myself to them. Okay, really, I'm just curious. (Off-topic, but did anyone else see that episode where they left 'Patch,' instead of dubbing it to 'Dobie?' It was on the side of some building...) Hmm... That's about it, for now. I might think up some more later. ~Nytloc Penumbral Lightkeeper

Well, to answer the first question about HAO (which, by the way is a VERY AWESOME character indeed, even in dub-mode)....
Both the sub and dub only show him using 2 of the 5 elements as you mentioned. I'm pretty sure that the other elements are wood, earth, and metal because the show does mention 'five' elements, and that's usually a reference to Chinese mythology, which has been adapted to a lot a Japanese Mythology too. Although I guess it would depend on what philosphy Hao follows (Shintoism, Budhisim, etc.) because the unmentioned elements could also be earth, wind, and sky. This is based on my speculation though ^ _ ^ ;
For the second question, not really sure about that, I haven't seen a whole lot of the dub. (And the DVDs that I have are bootlegs, so there are PLENTY of wacky subtitles) But I would guess that Hao is the first Asakura, considering the scenes with him in Heian period garb (the clothes that make him look like Fujiwara no Sai for Hikaru no Go). Maybe someone else could answer that better. ^^;
And as far as the Patch tribe goes, I'm pretty sure that the tribe was made up for the show, but that's not to say that there aren't any influences from Native American culture and beliefs.
Hope this has helped! ^ _ ^

the name Patch on the restaurants are just left there because it didnt affect the storyline or their lives for that matter. the only thing it did was promote their restuarant and increase google clicks. ;D ;D jk

The Patch were based on an American Indian Tribe, the Apache. Not the web coding/structure that most likely is running this website.

I think I can answer the thing about the Hao reincarnation. The dub says that Hao reincarnated three times but in reality he only reincarnated twice. (One as a Patch officiator and another time as the Hao today). The dub says three times because he has lived three lives, but calling it three reincarmations in incorrect. Hope no one fell asleep. ^^;

woah. only two haos. but i thought there was like a million of those... o__o also, how can wood be different than the element of earth, i always think of earth as ground and anything green. i thought it was fire water wind earth and... well. never really tried to think of five... maybe opacho is secretly and element... the element of big headed gender confused kindergarteners!
